Question about folic acid
Since folic acid is a B vitamin... and folks with the sleeve have trouble absorbing B vitamins and need to take them sublingually.... do I need to find a sublingual folic acid as well? I currently alternate between a liquid sublingual B complex, and a dissolvable sublingual B 12 pill. I've been taking an extra regular folic acid vitamin daily to keep my levels up. Now I am wondering if I am even absorbing it? I also get folic acid in my multi...
Is that enough to keep my reserve up?
Thanks,
Nikki

Hi Nikki,
I take my B12 and folic acid as an all in one that they sell at Trader Joes. (the sublingual ones). However, previously to getting pregnant, I took folic acid regularly as a tab you swallow, and my folate levels were fine at my first OB blood draw.
I am an RNY - so not sure of our differences in absorbtion.
Hope someone else can help you out with the answer, but there are sublingual folic acids out there,
Becky
