Still don't know if its band-related or morning sickness!!!

I'm frustrated.  I've been determined NOT to have an unfill during pregnancy...mostly because its a pain in the ass to travel to my doctor's office (over an hour away).  I don't feel restricted...I don't have any trouble swallowing food and getting it to go down.  But I feel full ALL the time.  I have really bad morning sickness.  I'm not vomitting at all...I'm just really really nauseous all day long from the time I wake up until the time I go to bed and small amounts of food make me full for hours on end....and I have to force myself to eat and drink and its getting really really frustrating.  But I can't figure out if its partially related to the band or if this just goes along with morning sickness.  Any advice here?

You may want to consider a small unfill (like 1cc) just so you can eat more. Also, try hard not to vomit, that is how band slips happen. Your dr may be able to give you nausea meds Good luck.

Sorry I didn't clarify...there has only been one instance of vomitting...that hasn't been a problem.  Its just intense nausea.  And I'm on Zofran...which has STOPPED working for me.

I dont know about banding but I take 8 mg of zofran that melt under my tongue 3 times a day. I had to get stronger pills. I also use phenergan every day also. See what more you can try with that.

Hey,

I don't have the band - RNY.  I have trouble eating alot and have brutal, brtual morning sickness.  I have been off work for the last few weeks because my morning sickness is so bad.  I believe that my morning sickness and dumping syndrome are in a battle for control of my body right now.  Either the morning sickness is worsen by my tendancy to dump or vice versa.  Anyway, my advice to you is to chat with your surgeon, nut, and OB. You likely need something to help with your MS but you might also need to supplement your diet with Ensure or another meal replacment shake.

I am waiting to see how things go as I enter my 2nd trimester before I seek dietary support.  This trimester is a wash for sure.  My OB recommended that I just get calories in and worry about the quality of calories when the MS starts to ease.

No real help, but I do understand.  MS is rough and given the reality that our digestive tracts are different from most other pregnant women, we are naturally going to assume that things are made worse because of our altered stomachs.  Chat with your doctors and remember that the 2nd trimester is supposed to be better.  I am really counting on that!!

Chin up!

Jenn

Havent been pg with the band yet but wanted to add a comment from someone who has had two previous healthy pg pre band.

That is how I felt with my second pg. To a tee. I think it is normal and comes with the territory. The band may be exaggerating it some but it sounds on par to me.

It will pass soon, more than likely.

I'm don't have a band but I do have horrible night sickness from 6 to midnight so I understand how frustrating it is. I was hoping it would stop in the 2nd trimester but not yet. I can only handle small amounts of food too and then I dump so it might be half and half

Thanks for all the replies.  My doctor upped my dosage to 8 mg of Zofran and it seems to take more of the edge off.  I still have days where I feel ridiculously full (like today) from eating next to nothing...but the past couple of days since getting the 8 mg have been better.  Today I had a 6 oz yogurt, a few popsicles (for fluid intake), a cup of chicken noodle soup, and some cheese puffs (lol) and I feel like I've eaten a 4 course meal.  I can usually eat much more than this...my band isn't all that tight at the moment.  I guess I can take this over the horrible nausea though!
