My 1st ultrasound yesterday!!
Hi mammas, Hope you are all feeling well.
Yesterday I had my 1st ultrasound at exactly 6 weeks! I was going to put it off a little longer, but I have been having some pink mucuosy discharge so I started panicking and they fit me in yesterday morning. Based on my last experience, I was almost expecting bad news. Anyway, the tech wouldn't tell me a thing and kept the screen turned away from me. I asked for a photo when she was done and she says "not at this time, I'm sorry". WTH??? Can we be a little more insensitive?
So anyway shen she left the room, I hopped up and looked at the screen (they had left all the info up, they always do). I saw a buch of pictures that clearly showed something was there. And the measurements for the ges sac, yolk sac, and FETAL HEARTBEAT at 95 beats per minute!!! I almost burst into tears when I saw that :) Seriously, no pic though? Never heard of such a thing.
A few hours later the doctor called me back and said I was measuring exactly on schedule and the heartbeat was a little on the lower end so she wants me to go for another ultrasound in a week. But not to worry (I love when they say that) because technically there did not even have to be one yet..

It's a boy!
I don't know why techs do that now days. When I was pg years ago w/my son, the tech showed me everything on the screen - including the fact that he was a 'he.' If they can't show you - then the dr needs to be there to tell you so you don't have to sit and worry and stress.
