SORRY IN ADVANCE FOR THE RIDICULOUS LENGTH OF THIS POST!!!!

So, I had my Saline U/S the other day, I wanted to share the findings and see what y'all thought.
(read about it here: http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/postop_pregnancy/4307813/H ELP-saline-U-S-coming-up-Anyone-had-one-Also-need-Clomid/  )

A little background: I've been TTC baby #3 without success since october... but I've been having these insanely long periods (between 12-19 days) that made it very hard to determine when (or IF) I was ovulating. Also, we (my OB and I) want to try to figure out why the hell my periods are sooo long. She tested my FSH levels on CD3 and it looked great. Checked my progesterone on CD21 and it was very very low (either didn't ovulate yet this month or am not ovulating at all she said)...

The other day (CD29) I had my saline U/S and they didn't see anything that would explain the bleeding (no fibroids, no cysts, no polyps, etc)... they took a uterine biopsy to see if they could detect anything on closer inspection and I will get the results of that in a few days--  my OB seems sure that the biopsy will yield nothing but normal results based on everything else.
But the ultrasound tech said she could tell that I just ovulated from my left ovary -- probably the day before (which would have been CD28) so apparently I AM ovulating, just insanely late due to my period-from-hell. However, I am due for my period (AGAIN!) today.... I don't feel like I'm going to get it today, though...but feeling a little crampy like it might arrive kinda soon (like in the next few days) so that would mean my luteal phase (time between O and AF) is way too short b/c it should be 10-15 days, so now I'm really confused!
My OB wants to start me on Clomid on CD5-CD9 next cycle... I'm wondering, do I still need Clomid if I am ovulating on my own (albeit very late in my cycle)????
And, will Clomid stop my period? (they've been a minimum of 12 days lately and OB has me finishing Clomid on CD9 & wants us to start having sex on day 12-- oftentimes, I'm still BLEEDING on day 12!)
Also, will Clomid help a short luteal phase, or will I need progesterone for that?
Lastly, does anyone know if the chances of someone having twins would increase even more if the person taking Clomid was also ovulating on their own?? (I'd be very happy with twins... but ideally, we'd like a single baby since we have 2 at home already!)

Thank you so much in advance for your replies, ladies! This Clomid stuff is getting confusing!

Hey V!

Glad to hear that you are O'ing.  I hope the saline US wasn't too painful.  Been thinking about you.  I have no clue as to the answers to your questions.  Given that your cycles are "creative" to say the least, I would ask those questions to your OB.

did you happen to baby dance on CD27 or 28? :-)  If you did, I would definitely tell your OB before you take the Clomid.

As far as clomid increasing the chances of multiples... yes it does.  But by how much? no clue.  Clomid typically makes you drop multiple eggs during ovulation.

Good luck to you and wishing you the best!  Just baby dance every day!  We don't have that luxury like you do ;-)

 Thanks, Maryn!

Yes, I am definitely planing on bombarding my OB with my laundry list of Clomid questions when she calls to tell me the results of the biopsy... I just figured I'd throw all my crazy questions on the message-board too b/c I know there are some Clomid mamas on here :)
Saline U/S was not too bad... a little crampy afterwards-- pretty minor.
We stopped BD'ing way earlier this month b/c we knew we had the U/S coming up and, for obvious reasons, this kind of invasive U/S can't be performed when you're preggo. So, we "wasted" a month of TTC, but I think it was worth it for me to get the peace of mind that I don't have some crazy **** going on in my uterus!
DH and I are definitely planning on BD'ing everyday I don't have AF during the next cycle-- I think that's a routine he will be on board with, lol ;)!!
And you are planning on starting more AI in March, right? Just in time for a shotgun lesbian wedding if I remember correctly!!

i ovulated just fine and after all of the tests there wasnt any reason we werent able to conceive other than the fact that my husband had a low sperm volume. i was put on clomid and after 3 round found myself pregnant. clomid has been proven very successful for unexplained infertility.

I would HIGHLY suggest you start temping your BBT and use OPK's to know when to BD so you hit the days. I used the clearblue easy fertility monitor and it gives a nice window of when you should BD. A good website for temping is www.fertilityfriend.com. Also, you may want to take a few hours and search about the Clomid Q on www.babycenter.com and specifically on the trying to conceive forums. These women have been through it all. Did your DH have a SA? That is always a good start too.
Good luck sweety! Hope this helps some!
