i need help and advice please!
Monday I will be 9 weeks, we couldnt be more excieted, but im having a big problem. Im having a real problem keeping my blood sugar up, well I assume its my blood sugar. I get real weak, dizzy, light headed like im gonna pass out. This is happening at least several times a day. Last week it was mainly just in evening and i would eat some protien and be good to go. Now im eating some form of protien every 1-2 hours and still feel this way until i eat more. Im doing protien shakes to get more grams in but that isnt "lasting" me. and with my pouch i can only eat so much at a time kwim? Also with eating so often Im not getting my water in cause i know i gotta wait to drink so I dont just "flush out" what I just ate. This is all really hard to do with my job at a nursing home, i cant be eating all day. Is this normal for a bypass pt when pg or could their be something wrong. btw all my blood work has been great, vit levels good and not anemic. I see my OB again on FEB 15, do i jsut keep trying to eat more, call ob or call my surgeon. im misurable trying to get things done when i constantly feel weak or always eating. Thanks so much for any help you can give me
I have issues with low blood sugar while pregnant. I have to keep candies in my pocket all the time. I use hershey kisses cause I suck on them till they dissolve. I usually have 1 an hour or so. They seem to work well for me. Drinking lots helps also. I also eat every hour. I just do what has to be done. I would keep things in your pocket that can be easily done between patients. Granola bars broken in pieces. Things like that. I really am always eating. Feel like a cow standing around eating. Not size wise I mean but like constantly eating and looking for things to eat like I see them when they walk around with their head on the ground to eat lol :)

sounds like you're on top of the eating and protein part, but are lacking in the fluid department. what you think might be low blood sugar related may simply be just a case of dehydration. my advice, and it's not professional, is to attempt to drink more. a lot more. i know it's difficult, but i had the same problem at 6 weeks out, and still have issues even now. i've ended up in the ER for some fluids a couple times because i don't drink enough. just a thought. good luck!
I went through something similar for the first three months and I also saw another person post about the same thing, they said it was due to low fluid levels, once she drank more water she leved out, I had issues as well, but they resolved at around three months. I too worked in a nursing home and I do understand the time issues with regards to eating. I hope that things will get better soon, but I would also talk to your doctor about how your feeling and see what they sugguest.
I kept a Hershey bar and for some reason, Hershey's chocolate was the only thing that ever seemed to help. I would eat some chocolate and then eat a protein, to keep it up. GL, Blood sugars are a hard thing to keep up with. Plus I had to start eating a very small meal every 2 hours, it helped though.
