Had a false alarm this morning!
I felt like the biggest ass, but I was terrified, so I went to the hospital this morning to be monitored.
I woke up at 7am sharp with excrutiating abdominal cramps. They were so bad, I actually got the dry heaves and felt like I needed to vomit. Then, I had diarrhea. I thought, "Oh no, my body is trying to expel everything to get ready for labor!" And since I was dry heaving, my belly was tense so I couldn't really tell if I was contracting or not.
So, I woke up my husband (who was asleep on the couch downstairs) by yelling down at him, "Honey... come here please, I need you." He yells back up, "Are you okay?" I said, "NO." And he came FLYING up the stairs. LOL
So while I was in the bathroom with a trashcan in my lap, he called my OB's office and they told me to go to the hospital. Better safe than sorry, they said.
The hospital is about a 20 minute drive from us, but it felt like 3 hours. And I felt every single freaking bump in the road along the way. All I could do was close my eyes and focus on breathing.
They hooked me up to a doppler thingy around my belly and had me lay back. My baby girl is LOW because the doppler was practically in my crotch to find her heartbeat! Ha! I hated having to lay back because being flat made my abdominal cramps worse. I felt like I needed to use the bathroom the whole time, but since I was strapped in for monitoring, I didn't dare.
A half hour later, the nurse came in and said everything looked great, and to let it ride a little while longer. A half hour after that, nothing had changed. She did say that I had a couple of mild contractions, but they were not necessarily an indication of labor. She called my doctor.
My doctor said that it sounded like I had a touch of food poisoning. But ladies, let me tell you... this was NOT any food poisoning. For one thing, I had an appetite. When I am ill from eating something bad, the LAST thing I want to do is even think about food.
So, they discharged me. I have my regular OB appointment in the morning, so I will be checked then to see if I am any more dilated, etc. And since going to the hospital, I do feel a lot better but still have a touch of diarrhea, but no nausea.
That's my adventure! I'll keep you all posted after my appointment in the morning.
