Update: Being Induced!

Hey ladies!

Well, I had my regular weekly OB checkup this morning. I've dilated another 1/2cm, but the doc is estimating my baby to be a whopper at 9 pounds! So, we're opting for induction. I asked about the accuracy of her estimation, and she said she's almost always right and is only ever off by 1/2 a pound at most!

Looks like D-Day will be February 1st! I go in at midnight and then go from there. If things progress and go smoothly (fingers crossed) her birthday will be 2/1/11.

I'm actually kind of happy about induction, because I'm one of those people who likes to "be prepared." At least this way, I know when I have to go, I can take a shower beforehand, make sure I have everything I need, etc. So hopefully I make it to my induction date and she doesn't come early. LOL!

Thank you, Mell! It's kind of amusing to me because I didn't show for soooo long. Everyone was concerned that I wasn't gaining enough weight and that my baby would be small and malnourished. LOL.

labor induction among first-timers often leads to a cesection. Have you asked your OB what her stats are on csections following inductions? 

Nope, I didn't ask. My philosophy has always been "Tell me what to do, and I'll do it. And you do what you need to do to keep me and my baby healthy."

On the plus side, the place I'm delivering is one of the top 100 hospitals in the country. I'm just going with the flow!

Yay Mandy!  Just a few more days.  So exciting!  Can't wait to see the pics of your little one.

Thanks, Maryn! I can't wait to hold her for the first time. Actually, I think my husband is more excited than I am. I may have to pry her out of his grip, LOL.
