My hubby and I have been thinking about trying to start TTC in about 6months once Doctor gives the Okay - has anyone breastfeed there little one after wls and dare i say using "tube socks".  lol I know it's kinda funny picture but I'm concerned that it would be a big problem but i hope to still be able to BF for longer than i was able to with my first. Thanks for any input ladies!

Women can absolutely successfully breastfeed with any size/shape of breast... as long as you have nipples, lol ;)
The important thing to focus on during BFing is not to give up, and keep strong in your goal to BF... eventually you will become an expert BFer... it just takes a little (sometimes a lot of) patience and time, but your milk WILL come in, you WILL find a position that works for you and your baby (even with saggy boobies ;))
When I felt frustrated BFing my children early on, it helped to remind myself that the human race survived for for thousands of years without formula--- our bodies were made to feed our babies!
And having said that, if you have a baby somewhere down the line and feel that BFing is causing an intolerable amount of stress... there is always formula. There are lots of moms here who formula-feed and can give you their advice if/when you need it.
Also, if your breast shape/laxity is holding you back from BFing, you could always pump your breastmilk and give it to baby in a bottle.

                                              I love my DS!

Mine are huge again! Nothing like they were, but I went from a C/D and now I am a EE and my milk is not even in (just colostrum). So the tube socks that were there are no longer tube socks.

I breastfed for a couple of months after my son was born.  Stoppped only becasue it got very hard to pump and stock up while working and he was at daycare. I could never seem to get enough supply built up for him...he is a little piggie lol.

My breasts were very full and sometimes rock hard when engourged to the tube socks were never a problem while breast feeding.  Of course now that I no longer am...the tubes socks are back!

the "tube socks" inflate a little bit... they won't look 'normal ' per se... but they still work. Alot of women have no problem breast feeding. Some of us deal with a low supply problem that seems to be more frequent post WLS, but as some of us never had any children before WLS so we have no way of knowing if it is due to WLS.

My first pregnancy was 7 months post WLS (birth 16 mo. post op) ... and this little man is due asap so ...  I am anxious to see if time out from WLS has anything to do with my low supply.

Breastfeeding post-op is going just fine with my son, who's almost 7 weeks old, and my breasts filled out awesomely once he was born.  If you have adequate breast tissue, you should be OK - the presentation doesn't matter.  It's possible you have a hormonal or development issue that made nursing hard, and that *could* repeat, but I hope it's easy this time around for you.

Thanks Everyone. It's great to know that others have done it and have done it well :) I had a hard time with my son (before surgery) because my milk never really came in and I just never had much of a supply..but i still did it for 3 months by nursing/pumping for what seemed like every min of every day....
Hopefully this time I will be able to go as long as possiable. it's great to know others who've had WLS have also done it. And the "saggies' didnt stop them. I guess I'll have to worry about it when it comes and just keep trying until the baby and I get it right. That's what it's all about anyway's, right?

It's possible that you had some sort of hormone problem that prevented you from getting a full supply the first time around, and perhaps your WLS has fixed that hormone problem.  I hope that is the case for you.

ETA:  This post brought to you by the Dept. of Redundancy Dept.    I just realized I pretty much reworded what I wrote in my other post.  I have baby bootcamp brain.

That's okay :) It's always good to have reminders. And I agree with you, I think there is a test that someone told me about that can do right after you give birth dealing with your thyoid (Im on meds for underactive thyoid - athough every 3 months i've been able to lower my dose due to my thyoid working better on it's own) anyway, there is a test they can do and a shot that they can give you to help your milk come in, but you have to get it within a certain time frame after giving brith for it to work. That's what I was told anyway. I don't know much more about it than that.
Hopefully, I won't need anything else and I'll be able to nurse and get my supply up that way. I'm a stay at home mom at this piont, so I can devote alot of time to it also. I look forward to trying it again.
Did any of you have a hard time BF in public and finding a hold with the baby that worked for BF...this was a big issue for me..I did okay at home, but i didn't have to worry about coving up.
