Constipation
Sorry if TMI, but never in a million years did i have a problem like this, until getting pregnant. I am having a very hard time with constipation and today I feel like a stuffed pig (even up 3 pounds from not taking a bm in a few days) I am at my wits end, and need some advice. My diet has been containing atleast 50 grams of fiber per day (been eating very healthy...lots of fruits/veggies/ whole grains/fiber one bars for a snack) drinking alot of fluids and taking stool softeners on a daily basis and it has done nothing. what helps you guys to move your bowels? Now being a nurse I know that we shouldnt have any type of stimulant laxative bc it could stimulate contractions...but help!!!!!!!!!
When you say you're drinking a lot of fluids, how much is a lot? With all the fiber you're consuming, you're going to need to up your regular water consumption. Too much fiber can actually constipate you worse unless you drink enough fluids. Unfortunately, this is one of the things about pregnancy that may stick around for a while. I was constipated up through about 20 weeks and practically threw a party every time I was able to go. LOL

lol thats one thing that I never slack on...Im constantly thirsty...been that way all my life (and no diabetes here)...so I drink atleast 120 ounces a day without a problem.. example..i woke up ten minutes ago and have already chugged a 16 ounce water bottle within minutes.... and heading to the kitchen to get my next one!
My OB nurse said I could take a colace at bed time and that has really helped me alot, also I keep a small stool in the bathroom and when i'm having trouble going, I put my feet on the stool, and somehow, it gives me just enough leverage to be able to go a tiny bit easier...I can't explain it but it works.
