Does anyone have....

Totally just throwing this out there....but does anyone have a nice maternity dress (large or xl) that I can borrow??  I'm willing to pay shipping.

My boss's son is getting married February 26th. I will be at the end of month #8/beginning of month #9...
I have nothing appropriate to wear. They are conservative and have requested "church" attire.
I don't own any maternity dresses or skirts.

Icing on the cake-I have oodles of tattoos. So they must be covered. Either by a LONG dress/skirt or very dark hose (and we all know how much fun hose are while pg). Oh, and no sleeveless, backless, etc. Like I said, I have oodles of tattoos.

I have looked at eBay and Craigslist and thriftstores. No luck so far. I'm trying to keep it under $20 because it's a one time wear.

If anyone has something I could borrow, buy, or even suggestions on where to find one, I would be forever grateful!!!

Thanks!

Girl you need to go to JcPenneys in a week or so. That is when they have a bunch of wintery fancy dresses on clearance. You can even look for a regular, empire waist dress that will look like a maternity dress. I always go there about a week before Valentines day to get a new dress and usually end up spending like 12 bucks. The empire waist thing does work because when I went 2 years ago I had just had a revision and my stomach was bloated something horrible, it looked like I was 6 months preggo. But the dress fit fine. Good luck.

Try oldnavy.com, walmart.com or kohls.com they run some really great specials!

Good luck!

Thanks Liz, I'll check those out.

I know Walmart quit selling maternity in the stores and their online stuff is pretty limited and reading some of the reviews makes me feel some of the quality is questionable sometimes  :-(

But I'll check out old navy and kohls....

Thanks and hugs

Jessica,

UGH!  I have a bunch of tattoos too.  How frustrating that other people's religious/political views govern what you get to wear that this wedding.  You could always pull the "I don't feel well cuz I'm 9 mos pg" card and bail.  But you still would have to give them a gift. LOL

Good luck!

Normally I wouldn't care but this company are amazing people and hired me the following Monday after I lost my job on a Friday. They said it was the Christian thing to do.

Then I had to leave them to take a permanent position...6 months later they all took a pay cut so they could offer me a full time permanent position.

They would give you the shirt off their back if you needed it.

I figure I can't show my tat's or piercings during a normal work day, and the wedding means so much to them...I might as well be nice and respectful.

Otherwise...I love to wear dresses (or any clothing) that shows off ALL my tat's because I am so proud of what they all represent.

Thanks Maryn  :-)  We'll have to trade tat pics sometime....

If you can't find a dress that covers well enough you could always try covering your tats with a nice sweater of some kind. Obviously dark hose will help. If they really are as kind as you say they are it will be enough that you are trying to cover them, out of respect.... even if there's a little something peeking out. Obviously they love you as you are... tattoos and all.

Just do your best, that will be enough.

Thank you, that is very encouraging to hear  :-)

If I can be lucky enough to find a calf length dress or skirt, then I can deal with knee high's (double them up-black) and that should cover enough that they won't be obvious...the trouble is still finding something.

Thanks again!!  :-)  You're very sweet

You could try some knit leggings (like cable knit). Deb sells them, I don't know if they have that store near you but they make them big enough and they're like $10. I got some at the beginning of december for a funeral. I wish you could use the dress and leggings that I have, but I believe that I am much larger than you, plus it's cap sleeves. It's a 2x from motherhood. It actually might be a 3x i'm not sure. it kinda justs sits snuggly in the boob area and then hangs down so that there's a lot of room for the belly. But again, I am 6' and 300 some pounds.
