yay- my betas are rising! (vent)
Apparently, nimwit nurse marked "negative result" on my chart because when the OB came in, she was shocked and happy for me. I love her, she is also the same OB who took care of my MC in Oct.
So she has my blood drawn and says I can call the next morning for the results. Which I am holding my breath for. I called the next morning. Nimwit nurse does not feel the need to call me back for 6 hours. The betas were 531 at 4w 5d. Nimwit nurse cannot tell me if they are normal because she does not have her wheel in front of her, but says they are low. Tells me to come back the next day to have them checked. So yesterday I go and have to wait an extra hour because nimwit nurse forgot to enter my bloodwork order into the computer. During the draw the head nurse comes in, squats down and says (in the tone you would tell a child that their puppy was just hit by a car) "now dear, are you having any cramping or bleeding?" I say no, why, and she says "just wondering, let us know immedietely if you are". I of course think this is code for "doomed pregnancy ahead' and get upset.
Anyway, the head nurse called me back this morning and said my betas from yesterday were 1153, so they have doubled. GREAT. but seriously, what is wrong with these people? My next OB appt is in 5 weeks and I will be speaking with her about her incompetent nurse. She gave me a script for an ultrasound but I am putting it off for a week. It was too stressful last time with all the early ultrasounds because they could never see what they were supposed to.
Oh well. Thanks for listening to all my venting, lol.
I've had that feeling before, like the doctor or nurse is thinking more about what they're going to order for lunch than they are thinking about their patient!
The majority of people I know who have had a MC go on to have a healthy baby-- their "doomed pregnancy" attitude is really ridiculous and probably causes a lot of women who have MC'ed a lot of unnecessary worry.
Definitely tell you OB-- that nurse needs to get her **** together!
Good luck!

I'm so happy your #s are doubling, depsite Nurse Nimwit not even thinking you're pg.
You sure Nurse Nimwit doesn't work part time in Bulgaria? When I had to go for my D&C in September, I was staying pretty calm until a friend sent me an email on my blackberry while I was checking in...then I was crying a little. Nurse Nimwit of Bulgaria came in the room and asked why I was crying, because (put a chirpy smile and tone to this), 'Having a baby's a happy thing and I should be smiling, not crying!' DH was practically holding me back when I glared at Nurse Nimwit of Bulgaria and told her, 'Yeah, well...my baby's DEAD, so excuse me if I'm not 'happy and smiling.'
There's no accounting for people's career choices...but there are definitely some people who do not belong in some careers. Talk to your OB when you can.
I totally understand waiting for the u/s until you're 6 weeks or so at least. Everything should be 'in place' by then and a strong heartbeat is clearly visible.
