Hair?

Is it safe to get your hair highlighted/colored during pregnancy?

From what I hear, it's safer to wait until you're past the first trimester, so you should be okay. However... I had mine highlighted during the first trimester... but they used foils and there was minimal scalp contact. The smell is what got to me more than anything! Ugh!

My OB says it is completely safe.  I had mine colored during my first trimester because I just couldn't take the blond highlights anymore during the winter (I live in CT)

 I dyed mine about 2 weeks ago, i couldnt stand that aweful *lighter* colour popping up here and there lol

Ah... that very controversial question. There are some people who feel really strongly about this. My OB said it was ok after the first trimester. My hairdresser (my aunt) says whatever it was that they put in the haircolor 10-15 years ago that caused birthdefects isn't in there anymore.

Personally I actually waited until I hit my 3rd trimester with my son, and this time I waited until about the middle of my second. My sister on the other hand is counting down to the day she hits her second trimester. I would wait... if you can stand it until the second trimester since baby's brain is mostly developed by then.

But it's your body and your baby... when in doubt, ask your OB.

Both my OB and my hairdresser (who was on the 2nd season of Sheer Genius) say it's totally fine throughout pregnancy.  I wouldn't do the cheap at home kind though.

I LOVE Sheer Genius, and I am jealous before even knowing who your hair dresser is. Unless its the chick with the garden sheers, then I am not so much :P
