I eat shrimp as much as I can but being so early out I could have not gotten much in. Make sure you get in enough carbs cause those are huge for developing babies brains and keeping out of ketosis. Have to be adding lots of iron because anemia will be difficult and trasfusions might happen too. Its very hard on our bodies for sure.

I would think that not being very far out, you're not able to eat larger portions, so maybe try snacking as much as nearly possible throughout the day. Try some cheese sticks, yogurt, nuts (if you can tolerate them), and protein shakes as well. It's hard for me to think of different types of carbs for you because the carbs I eat consist of things like honey whole wheat bread with an egg, slice of turkey, and a sprinkle of cheese. And I would think that soon out the bread still might be a little too much and swell in your pouch. How are you tolerating foods right now? I know when I was about 3 months out I could eat very little and was never ever hungry. But, with being preggo I'm curious if you're able to eat more than a 1/4 of a cup at a sitting? Also, maybe try some Multi Grain Cheerios. I am not a milk drinker, so I get my milk this way along with what seems like constantly snacking on them throughout the day...they're a pretty nutritious snack and aren't very high in sugars. What types of foods have you been able to try and successful get down?

Well, you know I gotta put my 2cents in lol... So, I think tons of dairy like cheese chunk, yogurt, fresh fruit and veggies, tuna salad & chicken salad is a great source for protein, lean meats... I know u hate protein shakes but venture out and try some new ones to ensure you're getting your protein in !!! Hope this helps!

I didn't have RNY so I don't want to give you bad advice.  But things I eat include: bananas and peanut butter (I eat them together), graham crackers with peanut butter, shrimp, dry cereal, string cheese.  I'm not a big yogurt fan, but I do try to eat that sometimes too. Hope this helps you some.

You're definitely going to have to up your carbs to stay out of Ketosis, so don't try and fill up on all protein. Today I had the below:

Breakfast - 1 scramble egg with cheese on it and 1 slice of wheat toast with grape jelly on it.
Mid morning snack - 1 banana and yogurt
Lunch - 1/2 a Ham and cheese on rye with miracle whip and mustard on it. Some Sun Chips
Mid day snack - Craisins and mixed nuts
Dinner - 1 pc chicken and mash and gravy from KFC (I indulge every once in a while)

The other ladies gave you some great ideas. Here are some of my personal favorites.

Protein munchies- 2% string cheese, cottage cheese, south beach diet protien fit bars.
Protein meals- chili, ground beef, chicken, turkey.

Be sure you are getting some fresh fruits for carbs. If you can get them, bluberries, strawberries, grapes. That way they are small and easy to snack on. Als, yogurts, just be sure it isn't the kind loaded with sugar. Fresh veggis, or frozen fresh, if you steam them they retain more nutrients and get nice and soft. Don't forget your vitamins too.

I also have been snacking on dry plain cheerios. They may help you if you have the munchies or morning sickness.

Hi

I don't know much about RNY so I can't help you there. I do have fresh berries, fruit juice & mashed potatoes (not all at once LOL) to help me with my carbs. I do eat other foods but I don't think your pouch would sit good with them. Sorry I'm not much help.

Best wishes

For the sandwich suggestions, if you can't get two slices of bread down at once (I know I couldn't early out), eat an open faced sandwich with just one slice of bread.  Egg or tuna salad - sma**** really well and use as little mayo as you can (because too much fat can make you dump just like sugar...and I react more to fat than sugar) - is also good.  My surgeon (who is Belgian...I had my surgery overseas) said to eat toasted bread - or evey wasa type crackers, not soft bread, because the soft bread will fill you up more than the crunchy bread.  Not sure why, but I found it correct in my case.  For snacks you can have some cheese and whole wheat baked crackers and fruit.  For the most part...if you're truly having trouble getting enough food in...eat some 'slider' foods if necessary.  You could make a meat sauce, like you'd make for pasta, but make it a little thicker.  I like to stir in some greek yogurt into that and I'll eat it plain.  4 1/2 years out, and I still eat this sometimes.  You can use beef or chicken or whatever you prefer.  Eat that with a tiny amount of pasta (because the pasta will fill you up before you can eat much), or even a little garlic bread.  Orzo pasta is also an easy to eat carb.  It's shaped like rice, you can cook it in some chicken soup...and I find it doesn't fill me up as much as spaghetti or larger shaped pasta.

I do agree with one of the previous posters though - it is important that you speak to a nutritionist who is familiar w/WLS and pregnancy so you can get suggestions on what you should be eating and what to aim for.

Good luck.
