Previous premies

So, I feel a little silly asking questions sometimes because this will be baby #4, and I get PMs asking me questions about pregnancy...feels weird to still have some of my own LOL

My oldest had to be induced due to low fluid at 41.5 weeks. My second was born at 34 weeks. My water broke and I had to deliver. Was told there was no medical reason behind the premature labor, and that it just sometimes happens. With my daughter I went in for a NST and her heart rate kept dropping below 80. So they did an emergency C section at 32 weeks.

So both premies were not neccesarily premature due to going into premature labor according to my OB so he says I am not at risk for a third. I can't however wrap my head around that. I am 18 weeks today, which if I go to 38 weeks as planned I am now half way. I can't help but worry that I will be going early again though, so I find myself in a bit of panic.

With the RNY and being early out I worry that I won't have as big of premies as before (5 11 and 5 2), or that if I do o early it will be because of the RNY.

I think what makes it worse is one of the NICU nurses was registry, and told me "Mom, I think your little girl here is a sign you can't bake them properly anymore". That was the first thing that came to mind when I got my BFP. Have I doomed yet another child to the NICU? Baby wasn't planned (failed BC), but I still feel like I have doomed myself and the baby.

Ok this was longer than I meant, I just can't help but worry. Any other moms of premies on the board that can relate or console me maybe?

My second was born at 35 weeks and was 7 pounds 3 ounces lol. He was the biggest preemie in NICU they had ever had lol. He had more issues than the smaller ones around us though. What a terrible thing for someone to say to you! My daughter last year was born at 37 weeks and did just fine. Nothing says this one will be early for you cause every pregnancy is different. My doctor said my second son would have been a 10 pounder if I had gone full term. I did not stress too much about my last pregnancy cause my doctors made me comfortable knowing every pregnancy would have its own outcome and stress would not help me out I do worry about these 2 coming early but thats just because there are 2 of them lol. I say big hugs and dont let anyone stress you out. You cannot control when your baby gets here in any other way than to listen to your docs and your body. Other than that enjoy being pregnant

I have never truly been able to enjoy being pregnant, so that would be a nice change. With my first, nine months of 4 times daily morning sickness. Second, my husband at time had thrown me out for another woman and her children and was completely alone with a two year old and pregnant so I couldn't enjoy any time (I think thats honestly what caused my pre term, doc says no). Daughter, in ER every other day with infection or high blood pressure.

This time, the fun RNY pass out episodes that have resolved. So now if i can get my brain to cooperate I might be able to enjoy it?  haha thanks!

I was sick the whole time with my first also. Second not much at all. With my last one I was sick most of the time. In the hospital about 4 or 5 times with kidney infections and stones. Then had my gallbladder out at 28 weeks. Now I am pregnant with twins and I am determined not to get stressed out. Lol this is my last pregnancy for good. I am 36 and this makes 5 kids for me. :) I just find something every day to feel positive about. Some days are hard but I then just try harder to find something to focus on :) you can do it!

Yeah it was not a normal nurse for the unit, and I just stood there and cried. And then I talked to the charge nurse  (who also took care of my son so I felt extremely comfortable with) and asked to have her not be assigned to Jordyn in future nights. Both my son and daughter were in NICU for two weeks, but overall healthy. Just had eating issues. I will be delivering at same hospital, and with same Neonatologist if needed its just the anticipation I guess thats eating at me.

My 5 year old (first premie) talks to Jaelyn(love your name choice lol) and tells her she has to stay in belly until after his birthday so she isn't sick like he and sister were. Its adorable but adds to my oh nos. Glad others understand thats for sure.

My son was pre RNY born at exactly 34 weeks and weighed 5 lb 5 oz.   I got pg with my daughter right around the 1 yr post RNY mark.  She was born at exactly 37 weeks and weighed 5lb 10oz.  I did have issues with her always being on the smaller side when I was having my growth U/S but that may not have been as a result of WLS I really don't know.  She was always in the 15-30th percentile range while I was pg.  I was on progesterone injections that helped me get to 37 weeks with her.  My goal was to get into the 4 lb mark. I kept having to tell myself though that how much they weigh is not indicative of how healthy they will be.

Hope this helps.

That does help! I know my daughter was earlier, and smaller but overall much healthier than my son so it all depends on the baby. My growth ultrasound so far with this little girl show right on target with my due date. I have tried to take "if this one actually goes full term" out of my vocab when people ask when I am due, but its hard!

There are a few of us that have had baby measure larger than dates as well. Mine is measuring 4 weeks larger than due date. I do not have a problem with preterm labor or anything. I was induced at 32 weeks with my daughter, but all I did was go through the labor, baby stayed in for another 7 weeks. That was due to low amniotic fluid.

I had my first daughter at 32 weeks she was under 5lbs, and I have the same feelings you do. I am so scared that I will have another NICU baby and I do not have the time and do not live as close to the hospital as I did before. But I think now that we are both much more healthy than before I hope we are okay. All we can do is think positive, and remember that both our little girls are ment to be here, early, late, or right on time our little miracles are here for a reason! And were given to us becuase maybe we can handle the special births.
My sister and I were pregnant the first time together and I remember thinking I was so glad the premature labor thing happened to me than her, she would have been an absolute mess. Things alway happen for a reason.
Good luck!!!
