Scared to gain weight..
I am really worried about gaining to much weight.. I keep going between 156 and 159.. I was at 245 before surgery and 265 was my heighest weight ever.. I know I wont get way back up there again but I don't even want to gain 10 lbs... I know it's normal to gain weight when prego but can't I just maintain my current weight through the entire pregnancy? After all I am still about 20 lbs over weight... I am sooo afraid I spent all this money on surgery and I am going to gain it all back again.... UGGGGGGGGGG
Hey there,
If it helps at all, I can tell you that with my first baby, I gained 23 lbs and lost it all within about two months. Now, I got lazy after that, and didn't place enough priority on taking care of myself with a newborn, so I did gain about seven back. Thus, I started this pregnancy a little heavier than I wanted and have gained 7 lbs. in 18 weeks. I plan to start really focusing on eating better and light exercise once I get rid of the sinus infection from H * L L . Don't worry ... if you take care of yourself and eat like you regularly would with good choices plus some extra calories for baby, you'll be fine.

I'm 35 weeks and I've gained 18 lbs. 7 lbs of it is baby based on his last u/s measurement.
I have no doubt I'll drop most, if not all of this pregnancy weight soon after birth.
You don't have to gain a ton of weight but you deffinitely shouldn't try to NOT gain any weight.... a big beautiful pregnant belly is a sign that your baby is healthy and growing well. Try to relax and enjoy your pregnancy. Eat healthy and don't be afraid to indulge your cravings just a little.
((hugs))

You are pregnant, you are supposed to gain weight! I have gained so much that I am depressed and feel like I will not be able to take it back off! My husband is really supportive and he is going to watch the kids while I go to the gym and he is going to go back at the healthy eating with me (as are the kids****ep telling my doctors that I am upset about the weight gain (60lbs) and they tell me that they see RNY patience all the time that gain even more than that! So I guess I am one of the ones who gains. My problem is, I do not believe that I should be having the artificial sweeteners so I have been eating and drinking real sugar. Once he gets here though, the story is going to change.
I have struggled a lot to gain weight and am still down from my pre-pg weight. My OB isn't an alarmist, but I can tell she's not happy. Either am I - it's a crappy feeling - like I'm not nourishing my baby. I'm having another u/s in two weeks to check on her growth. So far, she is growing well. I guess what I'm saying is that if you can gain weight, be grateful.
I started at 324lbs and a size 26. After losing 100 lbs, I became pregnant with my first daughter, who was born in March 2011. My second daughter was born in September 2013. I have maintained a healthy lifestyle and now hover around 160lbs. I would like to get back to the 140lbs before I became pregnant with my second daughter. The sleeve literally gave me LIFE - two beautiful, healthy little girls. My husband had his VSG with Dr. Marema on 10/1/2012 and is on his weight loss journey, currently down 90lbs.
I know the feeling. I am on the border for the dreaded 200's and it is freaking me out. My first three months I did great with only 4 lbs throughout. Then..morning sickness eased and holy cow gained 6 lbs! So I decided to work better at not limiting but eating healthy things. It seems to be working because I only gained 3lbs in the month and a half. I set a goal of total acceptable weight gain..though I am not going to lose weigh per say I am going to keep within the goal so it feels manageable.
I also try to keep in mind the baby's weight is right on target. I try to keep that happy thought instead of lingering on the negative weight gain.
A friend just gave birth (non WLS patient) and she lost 21 lbs after delievery! Whoohooo here's hoping that's me in June!
