Pelvic Separation?

Okay, so it's like my body knew the moment I hit my third trimester...I have been in pain ever since.

I feel like someone is trying to literally split me between my legs...owwwwwww
Asked the doc, he said probably 'pelvic separation'.
Has anyone experienced this or know what to do to ease the pain?
If I sit for anything length of time, go to stand and walk and I waddle big time waiting for everything to settle down and walk normal again.

Then, yesterday, I took a step and hard a sharp stabbing pain shoot straight up between my legs. So I stopped. Waited a moment to catch my breath. Took another step, another sharp stabbing pain. Waited a little bit longer...then carefully took more steps without the pain.

I guess I'm worried (1) is this normal!!!  and (2) is this what my whole 3rd trimester is going to be like???

Any suggestions, advice, etc. would be super welcome right now.
Thanks and hugs!!!

Sounds like it could be your sciatic nerve. I'm having the same problem! It's painful from my lower back on down. Nothing much can be done, except delivery, lol. Just know, I'm suffering with it along with you!

I didn't know the sciatic could go that deep and low....I don't have any of the back pain.
Oh well, like you said, at least I'm not the only one  :)  LOL

Good luck!!  Your due date is just around the corner!!!!

Read up on SPD (symphysis pubis dysfunction). I had it with my twins early in the second trimester and started getting it with this pregnancy the last couple weeks- thankfully I'm near the end this time.

A pregnancy support belt helps somewhat, but resting as much as possible (laying down) and the occasional tylenol are the only things that give me any relief. Some days are better than others, if I've been really busy/active, the pain is a lot worse the following day, so try to take it easy as much as possible.

It is pretty normal and it will most likely go away once the baby is born... but that doesn't make it suck any less.

((hugs))

Wow Courtney, I hope that's not what I have...sounds kind of scary...part of the reading says not to have a C-section which I have to have because of too much scar tissue.

Sorry you suffer from it...I couldn't imagine going through it for that long :-(  Glad it's almost over for you.

Maybe I'll try the chiropractor and see if that can give me some relief.

Thanks for the help and kind words

I feel for you as I am in the last 2 1/2 weeks of my 4th pregnancy. All of them have followed the theme of ticking off my Siatica by the early 2nd trimester and before the 3rd trimester I was well into having what I called my "Pelvis falling out" with horrid low back pain. I think most of it starts around picking up 10lbs and the hip/belly misalignment that shifts your pelvis out of norm. Most people that have this also have Pelvic dysfunction or where there pelvic bones and muscles are weaker than normal. Pysical Therapy is a great help in decreasing the bad days and the ultimate thing they adviced me to get was a "Baby Hugger" which lifts and holds the belly so you pelvic muscles are not being strained. adjustable throughout the pregnancy. You can look it up on the interenet to get one if your local PT doesn't carry it. Chriopratics does help alligh the lower back so your pelvis isn't clicking with trying to step sideways of forward. Outside of that mild pain medication like Tylenol 3 or something like that is going to be your only option to lesson it until you finally deliver. There are sites that will tell you excercieses to do at home and specific ways to walk to prevent the "Pain" flares- but in the end the waddle technique is there because that is the only was I thing pregnency Pelvic Floor carriers can walk. At least after birth that is gone-till the next baby.

I did forget to make a note that although some people do get Siatica pain with the "Pelvic Floor" pain, they are 2 totally different pains.  When you stride to walk you might get pain going down the one side of you butt and then down the back or lateral side of your leg. With the ligaments in the pelvis that don't allow for easy stretching throughout pregnancy the hip/pelvis ffloor takes the majority so when you try to bring a leg out sideways to lets say go over something in the way ( step over it) you will get a different sharp pain. Getting out of bed or into a car are the two big other tasks that won't be pain free. The last couple weeks you can't tell what is the pelvic pain and what is the babies head so low in the pelvis that its the pre labor positioning, same pains except come without any walking from head moving or lifting of the arm socking you down you know where.

Wow, thanks for all the information.
Definitely a lot to think about.

I think part of my worry is that I have to have a c-section and it scares me to think this is part of my body getting ready for labor (several weeks away). My body didn't do this last pregnancy...

Hmmm, guess I'll visit the chiropractor and see if that can help a little bit and then if not I'll bring it up to the doc when I go back in a few weeks..

Thanks again for the info

Hugs!
