Please no judements..TTC 4 months post op...
Hello,
I am not sure what your definition of large family is, 3-4-5+ kids, but I think that 34 is still relatively young with time to have at least that many children. I will assume like many your reasons for having surgery were to get healthy, lose weight, and ultimately have a child. You have one child, and again I will assume that conception was relatively easy, and hopefully you do not have fertility issues. However, with that said, your issues, if you had any, could also disappear or lessen with weight loss. I had pre op and post op PCOS and fertility issues. I was 5+ years when my son was born. I had to see an fertility specialist and later OB as high risk and also a perinatologist because even at 5+ years post op I had severe anemia, dehydration and low fetus weight and did not gain weight like I should have. I was very upset because I did as my surgeons had asked. I consulted him AND my PCP for the go ahead to TTC. I think that even another 4-6 months would be ideal for you to wait and then maybe try. As others mentioned the consequences are not worth it. If you are miserable the entire pregnancy and ill and worrying about the baby and THEN if you get ill afterwards that is a lot of added pressure for you, the new little one, your son, and spouse and that is not fair to anybody. You will really notice a difference in pregnancy at a healthy, stable weight. My uneducated medical opinion is that you wait.

My apologies for an incorrect assumption. Nonetheless the thoughts are the same. One of the positiives I would think is that your doctors should now know the *****tail* that will help you in TTC if even need it as you may see improvement in fertility with weight loss. I also wonder if your surgeon would have knowingly done this surgery had he known the intention was to ttc so early out. My surgeon and his staff were very thorough and wanted to make sure my commitment to this surgery and my health was first and foremost even IF my goal was to get healthy so I could get pregnant and sustain a healthy pregnancy. As for the asshole comment you are correct...everyone has one...well everyone has a brain too...so....
You will be amazed at what your body can do at 7 months out...
My PCOS symptoms are almost nonexistent and I am ovulating without drugs! I am looking forward to see how short of a time it will take me to conceive in a few more months. My midwives think one cycle~
You asked for insight CoastiesGirl~ Judgment comes with the territory; you are on a public forum. You might consider thanking the people that shared their stories...instead of calling out ********!

You wanted your hand held, and to be told "My baby was fine so please go ahead and go against all surgical precautions, put yourself and your child at risk and get knocked up"
So for that....yeha you came to the wrong place.
Can your pouch handle 100g protein, 100g carbs, 80-100oz water plus all of your supplements EVERY day NO matter what?
If so, there is a problem with your pouch because that is unheard of this early out. It will be a struggle.
Want a story? Many shared theirs...miscarriages. Those that didn't miscarry, like myself so far, I spent three months passing out and unable to function due to not being physcially able to at and drink enough. I am LUCKY and a FLUKE that baby is doing as well....mom however? My labs are a wreak and I am sick EVERY day. How's that for a story?
Some people are so selfi**** makes my head spin I swear

Your willingness to put your baby at risk for life threatening issues and the potential for brain damage and many more things proves that you are not ready to mother a brand new baby right now. This is all emotion based and logic isn't playing a part. You want to hear about the good stories and not the bad. The TRUTH is there are more cons than pros! People are telling you this because it's the truth! MANY of us have lost our babies. It's devastating! Why not take your head out of your ass and listen???
Use GOOD JUDGEMENT and wait like you have been told by your surgeon and women on here!
If you really loved this child that you so desire that is exactly what you would do.
You feel judged because you don't want to hear the truth. Don't come on here expecting to make such a selfish decision and think people aren't going to tell you the truth.

What exactly do we need to know about you? You came here saying you wanted to get pregnant four months post WLS and that your PCP - who knows next to nothing about WLS or pregnancy after WLS - gave you the OK. You don't want to ask your surgeon because you KNOW what the answer's going to be from him. You indicated you want to do this because you want a large family. Basically...you want to do what you want to do and screw the drs who actually know what obstacles you can face with an early-out pregnancy...and you were hoping you'd be able to come here and have all of us jump up and down cheering that here's yet again another woman out to bypass the drs instructions - which are based on MEDICAL KNOWLEDGE - because it's not convenient for you and YOUR plans. There is a huge difference between accidental pregnancies and failed birth control and intentionally doing something detrimental to your health and the health of your unborn child.
Did you honestly think you'd be able to come here and get validation to go against what your surgeon told you, and what simple common sense should tell you? You need to go back to WLS 101 and re-read exactly what is going on in your body right now - and ask yourself if you should be considering putting a baby through that...because at the point you're at right now...if you got pregnant...your baby is also going through the recovery from WLS. The malabsorption of vitamins/minerals, the malabsorprtion of calories and nutrients, the inability to get enough water because YOU can't get in enough water. Do you really want to intentionally do that to a baby? If you wait a few months, you will have stabilized in your weight lose, you will be able to eat a more rounded diet, your vits and minerals will be pretty much continually stable (with minor adjustments here and there) and you will find it a lot easier to drink your fluids. All of these things, combined with the plain and simple fact that you will have lost more weight and be in a healthier physical state, contributes to your ability to experience a healthier pregnancy and God willing a healthier baby - and more babies to come.
You will experience a lot of support here no matter what your decision - people will answer your pregnancy questions and tell you their experiences...but it's unlikely you will get many - if any - support to encouraging you to intentionally go get pregnant at four months post WLS. That's something you'll have to take responsibility for all on your own.
