Bragging--baby Gage pics
Gage was born Nov 2nd. Being my first (and last) baby, sometimes I still can't believe he's mine! 37 years is a long time to go without a child, then all of sudden, here he is. Not planned, but very wanted and loved just the same.
Gage just had his 2 month appt on Jan 5th. He has gained 4.7 pounds since birth and is 2 inches longer. Seems to be doing pretty good. I hated the shots---I cried more and longer than he did!! There HAS to be an easier way!!! Somebody work on that...
Gage is fed formula only. I tried to bf, but just wasn't producing enough. (long story--you've heard it all before). Anyway, he eats 4-6 ounces at a time, and he eats about every 3 hours, even overnight. I'll sure be glad when he can eat some cereal too. Maybe we'll all get a little more sleep!
I went back to work 13 days after Gage was born. BUT--luckily for us, I work for a very small family run business and they let me bring him to work. I just feel so guilty because I don't dedicate all my time to work because I'm taking care of Gage. Yet, don't dedicate all my time to Gage because I'm trying to get my work done! I feel like I'm failing everybody. I just hope I made the right choice with Gage and the job.
My only concern with Gage is his head. I posted previously about the flat spot he's gotten towards the right side on the back of his head. I'm so worried about that! His pediatrician said if it's not corrected on it's own by five months, he'll have to have a helmet. I REALLY don't want that for him! Again, I feel like I've failed him. And the little fart fights laying on his left side! I try and try...just when I think I've got him beat---there he is laying on that flat spot. GRR!!
Anyway, sorry for the long post. Here are some pics (if it works). Trying photobucket.
Gage LOVES his bath!! And there's a pic of him and daddy, doing what they do bes****ching football!! LOL
Thanks for listening/looking.

As much as I hate to even post this...no secrets. No exercising or calorie counting.
I didn't even realize how heavy I had gotten until I went to deliver and found out how much I weighed. (I never let them tell me my weight at the doctors appts LOL) I lost about 20 of those pounds before I left the hospital after delivery.
I know I'm just not eating that much. Probably not real healthy, but it seems like every time I want to eat, a certain little person wants to eat. By the time I feed him, I'm out of the notion.
I do drink a lot of water and iced tea too. Trying to limit my sodas to once a day.
Just lucky, I guess...

What adorable pictures! Can't believe how big Gage has gotten and he is adorable. Don't worry about being a bad mom, you are doing awsome. Most mom's don't notice issues with the head until it is really bad! You are doing the best you can with it and that is all you can do for now. BTW from the pictures he looks great.
As far as working and having Gage there, as he gets bigger, consider having someone come help watch him. I have friends that hired someone to come to their work with them so that their children could be with them, but they could also focus on work. Just a thought.

P.S. He is growing great! Juliette had only gained 2lbs 7.5oz and 2 3/4 in. at her 2 month checkup
Just out of curiousity - does Gabe turn is head to the right easily? When you hold him to feed him, do you almost always hold him in your left arm, holding the bottle with the right hand (which would turn his head to the left)? If so, vary up which direction you're holding him, forcing him to turn his head the other direction.
I ask this because when my son was really small like Gabe, we sort of had the same thing, and his dr told us to switch arms that we held him on to eat, and also to lay him down on his back and genty force him to turn his head the other way (not yank it...gently!), forcing it enough to stretch the ligaments and muscles to make it easier for him to turn his head the other direction. If you hold him on the same side all the time to feed him (which happens more with bottle fed babies like my son and Gabe, versus bf babies have to switch from side to side), then he gets in the habit of having his head turned that way and won't turn it the other way, which means the muscles on the other side of the neck are not getting the same 'workout/stretching.' My son's dr told me that I had to do it 'now' (when he was little), otherwise it'd mean months of physical therapy when he was a year or two old to force him to turn his head to the right.
Watch him for a few days on how he turns his head and does he turn it very much to the right - does he turn it equally as far and as often as the left - and if not, talk to your dr and have him/her show you how to help him stretch those muscles by physically forcing his head to turn to the right (or ask if he/she can recommend a baby physical therapist if you're not comfortable doing it). If that's the problem, once the muscles are stretched out, then he'll be more comfortable sleeping on his right side, also...which would fix the flat spot while it still has time to be fixed w/o a helmet.
If that's what the problem is (I've no way of knowing...it's just a guess because I went through it with my son 15+ years ago), it only took about 2 weeks of turning his head and holding it that way for 10-15 seconds, several times a day, and my son was fine. It didn't hurt him, but he wasn't happy about it either since he wanted to keep his head turned straight or to the left, also.
Good luck.

I'm still working on it. The last few nights I've been putting him completely on his side to sleep at night. Doesn't work out too bad, but sometime in the night he gets sqwermed back around and is flat on his back with his head turned to that flat spot!!
Thanks for your experience. That's why I like to post questions here. There's usually at least one person who's been there and done that!
