a couple of questions relating to TTC
Hi Ladies, just wondering some things. pls assist if you can, thanks in advance. A little n4 about me: I am a long time lurker. I am 26, and my husband is 24. we have been married almost 4 years as of 07/05. I have a 4 year old son from a previous relationship. Ok, here are my questions....
1. I feel ovulation pains, I get them very strongly. When I feel them, am i ovulating at that time/ on that day? or does it mean that ovulation will be in a day or to or did it just pass?
2a. I got tested to verify that I am indeed ovulating, what's next for me. I know for my husband it is the semen analysis but do I need to get tested to see if I have acidic cervical mucus or blocked tubes?
2b. I have tricare(military insurance), so is there a way to get either of those test as classification of infertility? or if anyone has paid out of pocket, about how much does that cost?
2c. Has anyone's (male)S.O. been put on clomid for issues related to his sperm count or mortility?
3. We do not have a lot of additional money saved up for fertility assistance expenses but we have been trying to conceive for almost 4 years, should we just go to a fertility assitance place and try to pay out of pocket for everything and try IUI and their testing?
Sorry so long, I rarely post, mostly lurk but I am desperate to try to look into more options.

Hi, welcome.
Congrats on your weight loss. When did you reach your goal? Obesity can affect fertility to make it harder to concieve.
When did you get tested? My husband had a semen analysis done over a year ago. I think it was just regular co-pays but that is something that can vary with your insurance. Anyway, it showed he had a lower than average count with limited motility (thank goodness he has no way to read this board lol)
Anyway, to speed up things I had him take 3000 ml a day of L-Carnitine, for the past 2 months. It is an essential fatty acid that improves count and motility. Just out of curiosity I just had him get another analyisis done and the count has tripled. Make sure your husband is taking a multivite. You can find L-carnitine online in bigger doses or in pharmacies. There is also something called Fertilaid for men but it is expensive and does not have a large amount of the stuff I am talking about.
I would suggest trying the L-carnitine, and buying bulk OPK strips from Amazon. That way you can know exactly when you are ovulating. I got a bulk of Wondfo 40 opk and 10 pregnancy strips for like $9.00. They worked great and I didn't feel guilty testing several times a day :)
Good luck. There are also boards on The Bump that are pretty useful that you can get a ton of info from just by lurking.

Thanks for responding! I reached my goal about two months ago but i havent updated in a while. I am actually 158 lbs a sz medium and 9. I will definately buy him some of that. I was tested for ovulation about 4 months ago knowing that I wanted to wait until my 12 months surgiversary before going back to TTC. Congrats on your pregnancy and I am sorry about your previous loss. I wish you a safe, happy and healthy 9 months.
