When Will The Lambs Stop Screaming?

Hi Everyone,

I still have a few weeks to go before that magical 2nd trimester begins and the nausea is still killing me!  I have had to take time off work because I was simply too sick to deal!  My nausea seems to be so like the feeling that I have when my dumping syndrome kicks in that I really see food as the enemy right now.  My doctor has doubled my does of Declectin and it has provided some relief, however I am still not  happy camper.

Do you think that my RNY could be causing malabsorbtion of the drug and that is why it is not manifesting its full power with me?

Also, I need to lay down whenever I eat.  Eating anything makes me feel icky.

Any tips, advice, or antidotes would be most helpful.

Thanks
Jenn

Oh boy, do I ever feel your pain....I've been feeling awful for weeks and I was prescribed Zofran...it helps, but then it doesn't.  I can't explain it.  I just always feel icky.  Sorry you're having trouble too. :(

I have to alternate phergan and zofran all day every day. I just deal with it and work with what I have. lol

I survive on Zofran which melts down under your tongue so you don't have to swallow and you don't have to worry so much about absorption. They also have phenergan suppositories that you could look into. Alot of people have to take more than one drug and rotate them.

Good luck. It sucks, trust me I know. I vomit multiple times a day every day until that placenta comes out. That's how I know I'm pregnant.

I totally understand how your feeling, the first three months I spent laying on the couch or in the bathroom throwing up. I lost 25lbs and could not keep anything down. Even the smell of my husbands sweat made me sick, I couldn't be anywhere near him or I would throw up. I lived on pringles potato chips, I know but it was the only thing I could keep down. I found that by the fourth month I was much better and I could eat almost anything again, I hope that things get better soon for you. Just remember your not alone and it will get better !!!

I was so sick in the first trimester I lost 12 pounds. I was puking 5 or more times a day. They put me on Reglan. Helped but was still way too sick. They put me on Phenagrin (tablets)... still puking 5 times a day. They finally put me on a Phenagrin suppository. Yep. Suppository. Not sure if the other meds weren't helping due to my RNY or what... but they weren't. Doctor said if I was throwing up the meds the meds couldn't work... so the anal suppositories saved the day.

The nauesa let up for me around weeks 12 and 13... though I still get sick at times if I go long periods without eating... which is something I try to avoid anyway. I'/m trying so hard to get calories in that I eat all day long.
