Extremely DRY skin on my face...help!
So I'm having a problem with extremely DRY skin patches on my face and I can't use ANY type of lotion or cream because I have really sensitive skin and putting anything on my face causes major break outs in itchy rashes. My water intake is okay and I have never used soap or cleanser on my face just plain water (run my face under water, clean with hands in the shower) even wash cloths are too harsh on my face.
Anyway my question...what in the world can I do/use to help aleviate the dryness (I've tried vaseline in LIGHT layer, baby oil, and baby lotion recently) and it either makes me itch/rashy or doesn't help??

I think at this point a dermatologist visit might be in order. I have pretty sensitive skin too, but not as bad as yours. I use Acne Free products on my face, they do have a sensitive skin line (I'm ok with the regular) you might want to try? It's like the Proactive line but sold in stores.
Good luck!
Good luck!

Hey there,
I have always been able to use over the counter things on my face with no problems at all. I usually have normal to oily skin, and its pretty sensitive. Well, with this baby, all bets OFF! It's dry, red, and unmanagable. I finally went to the Philosophy counter at Macys and bought two things, and I adore them! I got a small jar of Hope in a Jar and a small bottle of Hope is Not Enough face serum. I wash, then use the serum (formulated for very sensitive skin) and then put a small amount of the H.I.A.J. on. My skin has changed and one a total 180 in the last two weeks. I love it now, and it looks better than it ever has! I know I sound like an infomercial, but I am totally devoted to these two products now. If you get them at Nordstrom, you can return them if there are any problems. Good Luck!~

I have been using my son's baby shampoo (and prepregnancy my face routine sounds a lot like yours). I have a few red patches that sound like what you're describing and I tried vasaline and medicated chapstick on them. that seems to keep them from itching the best but they are still there and not so pretty. My OB said if it really bothered my I could go to the dermatologist, but there isn't much that they could do for it with the medication restrictions do to baby.
I have presonally just resigned myself to living with it. Annoying as hell as it is, I try to be real careful with certain things while pregnant and meds is one of them. I try to view it as "this too shall pass" and just try to deal with it. Some women get nice glowy skin while pregnant others.... don't. welcome to the sucky side. If you can live with it, try.... otherwise try the dermatologist. You may have some luck.

I have the worst dry skin as well. My skin is really really sensitive and has been since I was born. My mother could only use ivory soap on me.
I used Aquaphor on my son who also has the same skin as I do. It is lighter than Vaseline and works magic. You can try some of that, or for my dry skin I actually use proactive moisturizer, and it really is great for me.

I had some super dry skin during pregnancy as well and a friend of mine who is into all things natural made me some face oil with macadamia oil and some other stuff in it. Some of the other oils made the scent stronger than I liked, but the base was macadamia oil. It worked well and wasn't irritating at all. You could also just try olive oil.
