Thanks Eme.  I am either nauseated or famished (nothing in between) so food is a real issue these days.  I dont think I am getting in as much as 1800 calories though.  Will have to work on this.  Best of luck to you!

I found it next to impossible to eat enough of what I should be when we first found out we were pregnant.  I think it will take a little bit of time to figure out what will work for you and you'll definitely have to take advantage of the times when you actually feel hungry!  I'm looking forward to following your story!

Well, the latest is my dr. referred me to the university hospital because of my situation - fibromyalgia, VSG and advanced age.  I will let you know how the first visit goes. Take care.

i was almost 2yrs out and mine was a shock I'm almost 4months and i still cant believe it lol i have 3 kids and was so done but i guess the good Lord saw it fit to bless my womb one last time lol (no matter what this is the last time) at first I was discouraged, depressed and confused but I believe everything happens for a reason so i have put on my big girl panties and have decided to make the best out of a bad situation at least so far the baby is healthy and i will have a new baby to cherish and love :)

I'm always happy to hear from women like you who could relate to my feelings of being discouraged, depressed and confused.  I feel guilty when I know there are so many wonderful women yearning to be pregnant and here I am unable to be truly excited at this time.  My poor husband is being supportive but I think it is difficult for him to really understand.  It's early days yet for me so I am still grappling with my feelings.  Trying to pray and see the bright side but I can't wrap my mind around going back into breastfeeding, diapers, potty training etc.  In addition, I am far from my weight loss goals and the thought of starting over or even putting a 9 month pause in the process is bumming me out.  I recently moved to the UK and don't have my family and friends here so I think that is making it more difficult for me.  Thanks for letting me have my little pity session.  Myfamily and  friends often comment on how resilient and strong I am but I feel neither right now.  Thanks for sharing your experiences and best wishes for your pregnancy.

I know EXACTLY how you feel... I had VSG in June 2010 and I am now 17 wks along..  I was soooooooo pissed to say the least..  Now I am finally kinda getting used to the idea of having another kid.. But I did go through many emotions when I first found out.. I still have a really difficult time taking all my pills I am suposed to take but so far my blood work is fine.  I also think you will be alright carrying it to full term just try to get all your vitamines in and eat healthy..

It's good to know that I am not alone.  Today I was so busy with my other children that apart from not eating for virtually the entire day (a strange twist from the nauseated/famished cycle) and some fatigue I worked hard at trying to 'forget' my dilemma. I know that I cant pretend that this isn't happening but a little escapism can't hurt, right?  Mommytwo3 are you of 'advanced maternal age' too.  Please don't be offended but that is what they call us moms who are over 35.  I am 41.  I wish you the best on your journey - new baby and weight loss.

I was 8 months post RNY when I became pregnant. Talk about a surprise as I was using precautions too!!
This is my first pregnancy so I was shocked and scared to death. I'm still in a loosing stage and was really nervous about nutrition and such. Things are getting better for me as I've reached out to my nutritionist and a high risk OB. I feel better prepared to have a healthy pregnancy... although I still have the usual fears!!

Best of luck!!

Thanks RoxieRae.  Are we considered high risk because we have had WLS?  Haven't had that discussion with my dr. yet.

There were a couple factors that made me high risk:

1. Over 35! Advanced Maternal Age - Isn't that the worst label ever! If my doctor says to me one more time - "At your age..." I will kill her and have a legitimate reason to get off the murder charges - pregnancy induced insanity!! lol I'm 36 and will be 37 when the baby is born.

2. My RNY - because I am still loosing - my OB is checking my labs every two months, increased my calories, and is monitoring my nutritional status closely

3. This is my first pregnacy after difficult years of infertility and PCOS. Now my PCOS has resolved and I've very regular. We are jus****ching my hormone levels closely too.

I fee a little more at ease because the high risk OB can order more ultrasounds (and my insurance will pay) so we can monitor the baby as well.

Hope this helps,
Rae
