Packin' my bag...

Happy weekend, ladies!

I'm 36 weeks along today, and my doc told me to pack my bag because it can happen at any time, now. I'm excited because next week is my last week of wor****il April. Hallelujah! LOL!

Anyway, I have found some lists on various baby sites online, but I was wondering if there's anything that you wish you'd packed in your bag... either for you, your spouse, or your baby. I know this has been posted here before, but I can't seem to find any of the old threads.

Thanks a bunch!

This time I am taking my boppy I didn't have it last time and I think it will be a big help. 1. I can lay baby in it on my bed instead of trying to get up and put him back in the bassinet and 2. It will help with feeding (last time I remember using pillows.

For me:
Chapstick/ lipgloss- hospital air is so dry
gum
comfy pjs
toiletries
playing cards/book/magazine/laptop- something to keep you entertained
baby book if you plan to have the nurses stamp the baby's feet in it

The nurses can provide you with dispoable mesh undies/pads. Use them and toss them when you're done. Saves you some laundry when you get back home.

For DH:
Change for the vending machine when the hospital caffeteria is closed
snacks
Camera/ camera charger/ extra batteries
change of clothes
phone charger
list of people/ phone #'s to call after the baby is born

For baby:  (you can leave these in the car until you need them)
boppy
nail clippers
snuggly clothes/blaket for going home, bring a couple outfits, newborn and 0-3. I know some 9 lb babies that were still swimming in 0-3 sizes and required newborn outfits for the first couple weeks.
Don't worry about diapers, the nurses will send you home with TONS of them. I think we had over 10 packs of newborn diapers sent home with my twins... the nurses just kept bringing us new packs.

Goodluck!

A robe, slippers, hand lotion, your own bathing soaps & toothbrush (the hospitals suck). Some protien shakes & snacks for hubby. You probably won't have time to read. just be sure to bring a few pair of PJ's unless you want to where the hospital gown. Depending on how far you live from the hospital, your family can always go back home to pick up something you decide that you really need.

Hey there! I can't believe its time for you to pack already! How exciting! Just one piece of advice ... don't put your bags in the car just yet ... even in the trunk. I can't tell you how many people I know personally who have had their cars broken into, and baby bags, cameras, camcorders, etc ... have all been stolen. No bueno.
Oh, and BREATHMINTS for DH or whoever will be in your face when you are pushing. That was a life saver, no pun intended. :-)

Funny you should mention that... my husband's truck was broken into just before Christmas. We'll be keeping the bag in the front hall closet. We learned the hard way not to keep anything tempting in the car!

GOOD IDEA about the breath mints... my husband has dragon breath because he chews tobacco. LOL!!

I ha a huge bag packed and hardly used anything! lol

My own jammies and a robe, slippers, sweats or comfy clothes for going home in
toothbrush & toothpaste, hair brush, hair ties
camea and batteries
cell phone & charger
laptop & charger
snacks for hubby - oh and I SO second the breathmints / gum! My hubby had coffee breath (we were up at 2am, who can blame him) but it was irritating the hell out of me when I was pushing! lol coincidently that was the only thing he got yelled at for :)

I had lost a lot of blood and was severely anemic so I wasn't allowed to shower the hospital and didn't need much of the toiletries.

Good luck!
