Twins?

So I mostly just need to get this out but any insight would be appreciated. The more my pregnancy progresses the more I'm starting to feel like I might be having twins. My DH and I didn't use any fertility or treatments of any kind so the chances are slim I realize, but here is why I'm feeling this way. First of all I got a VERY early positive test...like 6dpo, and I have read that that can be a sign of twins, also I'm only 5 weeks tomorrow, and I already can't wear my jeans comfortably and I'm starting to get a pooch in my lower abdomine, and today started experiencing round ligamate pain!  This is my second pregnancy so I know that stuff happens earlier than with the first but this early??  I'm absolutly sure on the date of my LMP, but I have heard of women having the first period during their pregnancy, so I guess that if that is the case I could be further along then what I think I am, but I'm not going to find out anything until the 26th! So I guess it's just a waiting game...

Well, the more pregnancies you have the more intense the cramping and an round ligament pains are. As is the same with the postpartum pains. I thought for sure I was going to have twins, because I was feeling like I was having a lot of those as well. I guess multiples are a little more common with post WLS because it is said to make you more fertile. I was just opposite though, it took me 7 months to conceive and it is just one! Although I keep getting asked if there are 2 in there because I am all baby! I say the only way there are 2 is if the one that is HUGE ate his twin!

GL though and hope it turns out the way you want! I know the waiting part is hard.

See that makes me wonder even more I knew that WLS can help infertile couples have an easier time but I never thought about the fact that an already very fertile woman's fertility could increase but it makes sence. I know I was quite fertile before WLS, because I was able to get pregnant twice within a 3 month period although the first one resulted in a miscarriage. It's been over 5 years since my first pregnancy and I was alot heavier then but we got PG during our first atempt after going off BC. Well thanks for the reply and yea the waiting is HORRIBLE! lol sooo glad I have OH!

Hi

Congrats on your pregnancy

The only sure way is to get an u/s.  I am pregnant with triplets, I didn't get my pos test until 10dpo average timing. My Beta was a dead give away something was going on but not to sure. The website I'm apart of there was a lady with the same number betas as mine and she is having one and another lady that had way higher numbers than me and she's having twins.

Maybe your Dr can give you an early u/s at 6 weeks to see how many there are?

Best wishes

Well, after 35 we have a natural increase chance of multiples, don't we?
How old are you? They say a lot of woman mistake implantation bleeding for a period, so you may be right, you may be farther along...
I wonder if being smaller/weighing less during a pregnancy, that you may experiencing things more intensely (lack of better words)...

Just a few ideas~

I wouldn't panic just yet.  I took Clomid so had an increased risk of multiples.  From my last cycle to the day I got my BFP I had gained 13 lbs!, got a very early BFP, etc.  Had several symptoms of multiples, but last 3 ultrasounds say just 1!  Since I went to the dr, I've only gained 4 lbs and I'm 19 1/2 weeks now.  He told me that some women have a bigger weight gain at the beginning due to the increased blood volume and that I was just one of those women that got that very early. You could be having multiples, but I wouldn't worry just yet.

I am 11 weeks 2 days pregnant. I conceived using Clomid, 4 years post-RNY. From the very beginning I told my husband we were having twins. I would say "babies" or "our children" and he eventually got really upset with me saying there was no way I could know until there was an ultrasound. Sure enough at 8 weeks at our ultrasound, he walks in the room and I said "hey guess what! we're having twins!" all he could say was "holy ****". Good thing I warned the u/s tech before! lol. She said she's heard WAY worse.

From the beginning, I seemed to have stretching pains and feeling more tired than I thought I should. Clomid does make your chances of twins increase, but when we saw the OB he said in his 25 years of practicing and prescribing Clomid, we are only the SECOND set of twins he's seen as a result. I thought that was pretty cool. After years of fertility issues and going through so much to have a baby (my main reason for WLS), I am so happy to have two at once. Then I don't have to go through the fertility mess and timing again. For us, it's a complete blessing.

I told my husband never to doubt the power of a woman's intuition! And it's true... especially post-ops... the further out we get from surgery, the more in tune we are with every ache, movement and feeling in our bodies. To me, it seemed natural I would know. :)

Thanks for all your responses, I'm just 27 so the over 35 factor doesn't apply here, when I have my first apt with my OB I will be about 7 1/2 weeks and they said they will do a U/S that day for dating purposes and that kind of thing so I guess I will find out that day... and your sooo right Lianne, the waiting is the hard part!

Congrats!  My 2nd pregnancy was twins and I was 5months out of open rny... I know what you mean I had a feeling it was twins and when we went for the sono I seen 2 right away I was only  6weeks when I had the sono. my boys are 8 months old now and I am pregnant again, and I sometimes have that feeling its more than one again, but other times I think it's in my head... twins run on my mom and my dads side of the family, so I just can't wait to get a sono to find out for sure...
