Sugar gr increase & pregnancy

Question... have any of you noticed that your sugar gram content has increased while you were pregnant?  My normal is like 13-15g (18 TOPS then I dump) and when I am pregnant is is OVER 20, like I ate a chocolate chip cookie and 1 twix cookie (not the package)... that alone was almost 27. So, what gives? I told my OB and he said "i have NO clue, I'd ask around and ask your surgeon." Well... I am asking around...

anyone else notice this??

I am finding I have to eat more sugar, I get lows if I don't. I've been trying to choose wisely though, more fruit, orange juice if I get shakey fast. It's an ongoing issue with me so far. I am hoping that  nothing else is going on. Guess I will find out sooner or later lol

I've also discovered that I can do more sugar...I'm not brave to try too much because I do still dump/fall asleep (sugar coma) LOL...and other stuff.
But I can consume nearly a whole package of peanut butter m&ms in one sitting now....

But from what I have read, that should disappear after the baby....I'm sure hoping so 'cause while I enjoy sugar, I don't want it to be an ongoing opportunity. Too hard to refrain from sometimes.

Good luck!

I thought it would continue, so back in august when I had a miscarriage I ate like I did when I was still pregnant and nope... it went back to normal, FAST. Like in less then a week or so.

So, it returned but I didn't know if I was the only one. I am glad I'm not alone in that department.

Congrats to you btw :)

I could tolerate sugar before I got pregnant without dumping, but I would definitely get the tired spells afterwards. Since I've gotten pregnant I want sugar a lot and I eat some- I won't lie some days more than others- but I haven't had the sluggish yucky I just ate sugar feeling. My fasting blood sugars and my a1c numbers have all been within normal ranges and my blood sugars were borderline low at my 16 week blood draw, but came up the last panel work up I had. My a1c started at 5.3 and was down to 5.1 at my last draw as well. I've read through others posts that quite a few of us have been more tolerant of sugar while pregnant.

I find if I dont eat sugar its worse. Doc told me its cause the babies need sugar also. They were taking everything I put in and left me with nothing so I would feel light headed and all. So I eat a little more sugar and I feel better. I dont do the same when I am not pregnant so I figure my body knows whats best

I could eat about 20 grams of sugar not pg and with both pg it promptly went to under 10. As soon as I was not pg again it was back to my norm of 20. hth Shari
