Did/do any of you take sleeping pills while pregnant?  If so, what kind?

I have been struggling with insomnia and my Dr. said I could take ambien, but I keep getting conflicting information on whether or not it is safe during pregnancy.

I took Benadryl to sleep while pregnant.  I took it every night with my doctor's blessing.  It's one of the safest things you can take while preggo.

They told me benedryl is the only thing to take. If I don't take it I am up every 2 hours, literally...

Good luck :)

I took benedryl when I had a head cold, and that was the best sleep I had gotten in 8 months, lol. I have a friend who was prescribed Ambien while she was pregnant... her daughter is 10 months old now and healthy. She took it every day for the last 3 months. I still wouldn't take it even if my doctor said it was okay, though.

I was given ambien while pregnant with my now 5 year old. The walls started talking to me and I just sobbed uncontrolably. I would stick with the benedryl due to lack of the crazy side effects lol

I take Tylenol PM (has the same stuff as benedryl) or benedryl when I need to sleep. I still wake up when it wears off in 4 hours.. but 4 hours is better than 2 hours in a row.
