I have some questions hopefully some people can help answer them

Has anyone had a vbac after gastric bypass, me and my doctor decided that I should try to have a vbac with this baby so I was wondering if anyone else has and how it went

Should I tell my surgeon about my pregnancy, I haven't told them as I figured if anything went wrong or my doctor had questions they are literally just a floor from each other, but was wondering if I should notify his office too

Baby is measuring right on and very strong and healthy, but they also want me to have extra ultrasounds after the 20 week one since I had gastric bypass, does anyone elses doctors do this also

Thank you ahead of time :)

I would let their office know so if anything comes up its easy just to get in. I will get ultrasounds every month and did with my last pregnancy last year also. I loved it. I think all docs are different though. I know with twins he said after week 30 he wants me checked on ultrasound every 2 weeks

I've had 3 U/S so far and I am scheduled to have another one in a month. The first was at the Dr's office for my first appointment. My dr just likes to do those. The 2nd was for the down's syndrome and Tri 13/18 testing. It was a combo of blood and U/S. The last one I just had was the standard anatomy scan. Those are all pretty standard. But I don't know if the next one is because I tested high risk for Downs or if it is normal for the practice. I thought I wouldnt be having anymore after the anatomy scan I just had. ::shrugs::

I would definitely tell your surgeon. He/she might have some suggestions on a good pregnancy diet. Plus I think it's just better for them to know. Sorry, I've never had a vbac though. Hopefully someone can answer that question for you. All I know is that whether or not you have a vbac has very little to do with the WLS.

I would DEFINITELY let your surgeon's office know you are pregnant. There may be extra precautions they want you to take that your OB may not be aware of or familiar with. Just because they are a floor apart does not mean they communicate. My surgeon's office and OB's office didn't communicate during my pregnancy. I had to communicate everything to my OB during my checkups and encourage her to call my surgeon's office with questions she had. I had an US at 18.5 weeks and then had to have a follow up due to cysts they found on the baby's brain. By the second US they had cleared up other than that I didn't have any other USs. You are in better health now and much lower risk than you were before your GB.
