May be getting induced on Monday.
I may be getting induced on Monday (January 10th) and OH soooo happy! I will be 39 weeks and 1 day. How was your labor with being induced? This is my first baby full term. My High risk Ob wants to induce me because I have not been able to eat in the past three days without getting sick. He thinks it's just because baby is bigger now and she is pushing up on my stomach which is making it way more difficult and uncomfortable then even after my gastric bypass to eat anything! I have been also having loose stools and major gas pains for almost a week now and my back feels like someone punched it a few times. I am 1 cm and 80% effaced still and have been this way for 2 weeks now. I just want relief! So how did you ladies react to being induced and was it a much quicker labor like they say it is. I plan on trying to wait it out until I am 4 cm for an epidural. I would like to be in active labor first, just wondering if I am going to be able to tolerate the pain of labor and a little nervous, but still ready!
Hey there,
All I can offer is my own experience, and that's that I was induced at 42 weeks with my daughter because I lost. My. Mind, and begged to get her out. Cytotek was used in my induction, followed by pitocin, and the whole thing took over 36 hours with 3 hours of pushing. Since then, I have learned more about the drug Cytotek and am horrified I allowed it to be used. I am on NO WAY trying to push a horror story, my birth was what I needed in order to learn. Having said that, I will never induce again. In no way does induction speed up L&D. Those cases are the total exception, and hardly ever the first baby. Studies show us that inductions very often lead to C Sections, in fact. Also, it is important to keep in mind that American OBs use your last period to date your baby, not the actual date of conception or ovulation. So, to deliver at 40 weeks is really delivering at 38 weeks of gestational age, not 40. I know I made Lydia come too early. I know my body was not ready, and neither was she.
Anyway, off my soap box. If you are already dialated, I pray it will go easier for you and not take as long. As with any intervention in a birth, just be as educated as you can, and then make the decision that is right for you! Good luck, and lots of health and love to your family!

Ok, I was induced with my first baby just a little over two weeks ago on December 16th. I had been 2cms and 60-70% effaced for 2 weeks. We had to be at the hospital at 4:00am and they hooked me up to the IV fluids and pitocin at 4:30am. I labored 8 hours without any pain meds, wanted to go without the epidural but I gave in 8 hours later and was only dialated to 4cm then. I got the epiduaral which wasnt nearly as bad as I expected thankfully. By 8:00pm that night I was finally at 8cm and my epidural had worn off about 2 hours prior to that and the booster didnt take that they gave me. By 10:00pm I was 10cm and ready to push
At 11:12pm Abigail Layne was born weighing 8lbs, 5 ozs 20 1/2 inches long. She wouldve been born a little earlier than that but I had to hold out for my dr to make it to my room for about 15 minutes to do my final pushes to get her out. Best of luck to you! Hoping for a quick and healthy delivery!

I hate to bear more bad news but my induction sucked big time and ended up with a c-section. They used cervadil and pitocin and it was horrible. I think the biggest issue was that the pitocin forces strong contractions instead of letting your body work up to it and my son got stuck in there the wrong way. There's no doubt about it that labor pain sucks... more so for some than others. *****ally knows why. There are ways to deal with it as it comes and you'll do fine. Everyone makes it through... plus... there really is no going back now! lol.
That being said.... some people have no problems... lucky ducks. I wish I was having this baby on monday! lol.
Good luck! You'll do great :)
