weight loss DURING pregnany?
update from my Nutrionalist- the one we see before RNY with the hospital.. She said my vit levels looked good.. and I shoudl be getting 1800 calories/day for normal weight maintenance plus 500 more for weight gain! so for me.. if i do want to pack on some healthy "fats" i should try liquids.. Ensure or boost.. both which contain vitamins also and i may be able to tolerate the taste more than the protein shakes!
My OB is having me schedule another ultrasound in 2 weeks though to check the size of the baby.. since i seemed concerned that its not big enough. (she says im measuring on target.. but shes also measuring some of that "extra skin/flab" that i have at the bottom of the belly from RNY, so i just dont know. just want he/she to be healthy!

I wouldn't worry. Your body is all new at this game pf pregnancy and post-op...My OB didn't even bat an eye when I lost in the first trimester. I was eating like a pig too, totally worried I was gonna reverse all my 145 lbs of progress in one pregnancy..lol...I started at 168, went up to 174 and back down to 170 and have stayed there. I am just starting my second trimester and will let you know, but my doc said that if baby is fine and levels all are good, watch your iron and D, then you are ok too...don't add worry to your pregnancy, just see it as a double blessing :) And Congrats!
PS If carnation and ensure aren't your thing, try a milkshake once or twice a week...they are actually not too bad for you when pregnant my doc said and they provide calcium and some calories...

lol. well, im in 3rd trimester now.. and still havent really put on weight! but im measuring on track I guess. We are doing an ultrasound though in 2 weeks.. just to see how the baby itself measures, and because it hasnt turned yet, my dr, wants to check that out too.
She has me drinking Boost.. its OK. i can drink it without gagging (unlike protein shakes) so thats always a plus! I like the ice cream shake idea!!!
im eating all the time right now though, to get in as many calories as I can.. not much at a time, but i do what I can.
