What are you eating?

Hi

I was wondering what everyone else is eating to get in what they need. I am eating what I can, pregnancy sickness is really starting to kick in with the triplets. Still not as bad as my last pregnancy ( I lost Rylan in my 2nd trimester this year from not getting enough in and I kept going into ketosis).

I have just gone out shopping (10:40pm) and got myself peanut butter to add my carbs and cals, creamed rice and snack paks.

As soon as I eat more healthy the weight comes straight off even though I haven't lost anything in 3months.

Any help in foods would be great Thanks

Something that I do sometimes when my weight starts to drop, (even before pregnancy) is to get some whole wheat bread, with added fiber, and toast it, then smear it with that White Chocolate PeanutButter and then BlackBerry Jam....I'm sure you could use any flavor u liked...but that is my favorite junky snack and the whole wheat seems to kinda balance it for me in my mind lol. I also like Slim Jims...they are TERRIBLE in CALs...but like 12 grams of Protein. But is seems like so far with this pregnancy I can't get enough Protein! Keep us posted !

im sorry that you are having this problem.  i only wi**** was mine. lol i could eat like a horse.  But if you need to increase calories I would say add some nuts, full fat cheeses, peanut butter and eat all full fat dairy like whole milk, regular yogurt, exc.  by the way how many calories have you been taking in?

Sorry to hear you're still battling Ketosis. Bear in mind Ketosis is caused by HIGH Protein Low Carb diets and not necessaryly the amount of calories you're taking in. Make sure your extra calories are from those from Good Carbs. You need to take what you learned about really high protein and staying low carb and kinda toss out the window for now to stay out of Ketosis. You really need the protein, but carbs is going to help you stay out of ketosis. So continue your high protein, but your carbs intake has to be slightly higher than before. I see a nutritionist who specializes in post bariatric surgery pregnancy nutrition and she has managed to teach me things that kept me from ketosis. I had the ketosis problem prior to seeing her because I got pregnant 6 months out from RNY. Good luck sweetie.

Pack on the carbs! I have had no problem with gaining weight!!! I eat EVERYTHING! Right now I am actually eating a P'zone from pizza hut! lol (obviously not a whole one). I drink a lot of water (at least 4 liters a day) but other than that, I have not counted a calorie. My thought is #1 to make sure baby is OK, then after he is born, I will go back to healthy. I even eat chocolate

I am probably a bad example, but like I said. It is about the baby now. Plus my BP and sugars and everything are awesome, so I am doing OK with myself, just putting on the weight. My Doctor said they are happy with my weight gain, so I am always worried that I cannot take it off after.

Hi

Well after having a good look at my foods again ( my nutritionist is great) I'm getting in over 150 carbs a day ( staying out of ketosis this time) but it's the cals that I'm having the most trouble with not on purpose. I thought I was eating  a fair few but it seems I have only managed to get them up a few 100 more than before even though I'm eating around the clock. I was told by my OB that I need atleast 1200cals for me and then another 300 cals per baby, so another 900cals.

Is this still the same for people that have had WLS?

Many thanks

Wow! I am surprised you are having a hard time eating 1500 cals per day at 10 months post op! I am only 2.5 months post op and I could eat as many calories per day as I want easily. I am still nicely restricted, but when I add in snacky carbs the calories gain up quickly!
Have you tried eating some crackers or popcorn throughout the day? Or some dried fruit? Those are all semi-decent carb snacks.
Good luck!

I have lots of whole grains. Cerial, toast with almond butter, lean cuisines (not such a good idea because of sodium). I drink butt loads of water and snack on fruits and veggies. I have a latte w/ ff milk every morning..AND I DO NOT feel guilty :) lol.
