I am in my 34th week now, and still on my 4 week appointments! I thought by now I should be in the every other week. Considering that I am seeing a high risk doctor, and all. They have me schedluled for the next appointment at 36 weeks, and I last say the doctor at 32 weeks. I had contractions too, and told the doctor, and she checked me and said I was already starting to dilate (1 1/2 @32weeks). Now I have these contractions show up mostly at night, but I do not want to be a JA and keep calling. I even called the office and told them my concerns about not being on every other week now.... Her reply.... "Labor and Delivery is always open" then she told me that I delivered my children at 39 and 40 weeks and they were not worried about pre term labor. I then had to correct her and let her know that both my children were born at 38 weeks exactly! So then she says.. "but your body acts differently when it is carrying 2 babies as opposed to one". I then got very worried and told her she had the wrong chart since from day one there has only been one baby in there!
This is supposed to be the best hospital in the state and they are really dropping the ball. I don't what to do. Also they the nurse called me back and said that they put me on the 4 weeks because of the holidays and they are limited in the appointments available. I am scared now to have the baby here! They are not doing things the way I want them too!

I'm 35 weeks and I haven't even had a cervical exam, yet. I only am still on 2-week appointments until my next one on Jan 13, then it'll change to once a week.

I'm not considered high risk, and this is my first baby. I'm kind of just going with the flow. I guess if there was something to worry about, she'd let me know... but everything has been peachy so far!

When did you start seeing them every 2 weeks? I thought I should be there already.

I think every office is different along with each doctor. My whole last pregnancy I went every 2 weeks. Now I am at every 4 weeks for another one then I go to every 2 weeks which thats only because its twins and I can deliver early. I have high risks every time and it seems every doctor just feels comfortable at a different timing. I am fine with it though cause if I feel something is wrong I just go in. If you have concerns though I would speak to an office manager or someone higher in the hospital!

I think I might have to. I was upset when they told me they can get me in this week for an appointment but I have to come back for the growth scan because all the techs are in a conference. I would not mind it if they didn't decide to schedule all this the only day they had open and I am supposed to be in court the whole day! So I have to play the "call and see if there is a cancellation" game

I see a high risk OB as well, but it's because I had a son born at 24 weeks gestation and then passed away two hours later. I have also had previous miscarriages so a high risk OB was crucial when we found out the news of this pregnancy. He started seeing me every other week at 28 weeks and every week at 34 weeks. He also did not check my cervix until I was almost 36 weeks along, however there was no need because I wasn't having any symptoms or contractions that needed to be checked on. I think everyone cir****tances are different. I do feel your OB should be seeing you at least every other week by now and probably checking you since you are dilating a little earlier than the norm, but like I saw one of the other ladies on here write, every office has their own guidelines I guess. I hope you get the answers and your OB office gets on the ball with your OB care so you need not to worry like this!

Thank you. They actually had to do an exam to see if I was leaking fluids because I had the thought I was, and while she checked that she said she could see that my cervix was dilated already and that I needed to take it easy for the next few weeks. Although it was not important to see me in 2 more weeks. I really hate this practice, but I love my OB! Some of the residents really make me mad!

Ugh! I am sorry you have to deal with this ... It sounds really frustrating!
I just wanted to offer my support and tell you that you (and you probably already know this since this isn't your first ... you egg roll eater, You! :-) ) you have every right in the world to tell your OB that you aren't comfortable with the policies of the scheduling in the practice and that it is causing you anxiety. You can totally request to be seen once a week from here on out if you want ... its up to what your insurance would cover at this point - NOT at the jurisdiction of what some receptionist determines is convenient. And, if scheduling is that big of an issue for her, you can just get out your datebook and suggest every Tuesday at 3pm until the baby comes. :-)
The doctor and the practice are supposed to be serving YOU, YOU should not have to bend to their lame policies. Every woman is different in her needs in being treated.
Good luck!

I am thinking about calling tomorrow and demanding that they see me this week! I am so tired of the nurses, my husband said to call and say I want to talk to the OB himself and not take no for an answer! The best part is, our church Pastor just met the Hospital Administrator the other day and I am sure he can put in a word for me if all else fails!

I had my last appointment at 28.5 weeks and I was scheduled for today for my growth ultrasound and my 31 week appointment, but they rescheduled me for Wednesday and I will be 32 weeks tomorrow. When I went in for the last one, I thought for sure that they would want to see me every other week, but the doctor put down 3 weeks only because they wanted an ultrasound done to check baby's growth also because I was measuring so far ahead. So, I guess I'll be expecting to be seene very 2 weeks starting this appointment. I'll def let you know if they switch me to every 2 weeks at this appointment. I was actually rather shocked because the office hasn't really given me much info on me at all. They don't give me measurements and the only way I found out exact information was by requesting my records last visit due to my traveling in my third trimester. There were heartbeat rates and fundal height measurements that not 1...and I have 4 I rotate through...dr had given me that info. Also, I was shocked to find on my paperwork that they considered me high risk. They never told me this before. When I started going to them, during my ultrasound and pap exam appointment my BP was a little high (not to mention I had just realized I was "actually" preggo and had been crying on top of having a yeast infection and stressing about my pap coming back abnormal like in the past), but they have yet to tell me why I'm considred high risk. I'm definitely planning on asking some questions at my appointment on Wed. My BP, sugars, vitamins, and everything else they check have been absoloutely within normal ranges over the last 6 or so months, so I can understand where you're coming from. Drs can be very frustrating at time without a doubt!!
