This is just irritating me!!! Just gotta vent!
I have a friend that is having her first baby and she is due 2 weeks and a couple days after me. Well she is under the impression that she has ALL the answers about how things work and all that. I tried to give the "asked for" advice, and I just get the, well that is not what I heard.
Then one day I posted that I was going to eat an egg roll, and she came out saying that those are bad for the baby and this and that! I ate them with the other 2 kids and they are just fine :-\...
I want so badly to say, "hey, I have done this a couple times before!" HAHA
We just got into a discussion because she bought a snow suit for bringing her little one home from that hospital in. I told her we used one (lightweight) with my daughter and she was soaked in sweat by the time we got home!
Sorry, just venting!
On another note, WooHoo, baby is getting closer to being here!!!

snowsuit + car seat= Bad idea. It's just not safe dressing a baby in bulky winter clothes that prevent a good fit in the car seat...
It always amazes me when women who either have never had a baby before, or are pregnant and just read a book are suddenly experts on being parents. I'm sorry she's being so annoying, I'm sure she's just excited and wants to show off how "prepared" she is with her "knowledge"... give her a few months of being a mom, maybe it'll humble her a bit.
And now I totally want an eggroll!

Mind you, my 'baby' is 15 1/2 years old and taller than me now...but I am semi-sure they have blanket things that have elastic around the edges of them (least they used to!) that fit over the car seat. They have a hole for the baby's head...so you put the baby in in their regular clothes, maybe tuck a light blanket around them after they're strapped in, then you can stretch that elastic fuzzy blanket thing over them and position their head facing out the hole (it's not tight at all around their head). That with the heat on in the car and they'll be fine. Maybe have a heavier blanket to tuck around them under the elasticy blanket if you're taking them in and out of the car in the car seat (one of those snap and carry seats), and that'll hold the warm inside the elasticy blanket for them? Or (more inconveniently) have a snow suit with you - or a bunting bag - that you can put on the baby when you take them out of the seat (if you're not taking the entire seat out to carry them). You can always place a blanket over the baby's face in the car seat while in transit to/from the car (if it's bitterly cold), but I wouldn't leave it over their face once you reached your destination.

All you 'newer' mommies than me - feel free to jump in and tell me if I'm in the stone ages and that there is 'new fangled' baby equipment out there...like I said...my baby insists he's not a baby any more (shows what HE knows....!). For my own mental health...I avoid baby stores as much as possible so am likely not 'up to date' on what's new out there.

Oh dear. I am suffering from bad fatigue and will use that as an excuse for my incredible stupidity. I KNOW what you're describing, I saw one the other day in Walmart and even told DH we were getting one. Apologies for wasting your time!
Mind you, I've been thinking of not getting one of those infant car seats but I'm guessing just the blankets will work too.
Can I trade morning sickness for fatigue? lol

lol, sorry! The other day I posted that I had a craving for crab Rangoon and EVERYONE on my facebook was all in a huff and puff that they wanted some! haha
Yeah the only reason I used the snowsuit was because my mom picked it out for her, and it was a light weight fleece, but I tossed it to the side that night!

Oh, I just love receiving unsolicited advice. LOL. That falls in the same category as women who love to tell you their horrible labor horror stories, or the people who want to tell you about the risk of miscarriage as soon as you announce your pregnancy. I just smile and say thanks for your concern, but I'll be fine.
Some people are just paranoid. My perspective is that women have been giving birth for thousands of years, and they didn't have anyone to tell them not to eat deli meat, to stay away from seafood, and to avoid sleeping on their backs. Somehow, most of them turned out okay and their kids made it to adulthood.

The advice thing is funny when someone asks for it then kinda shoots it down.
As far as the birthing HAHA, I am not one to share that much info on Facebook. I would always get the "You have no idea what you are in store for" from my older sister! Little did I know, I really didn't. It does not matter how much someone tells you about what to expect, every baby/ pregnancy is not the same. I know my previous pregnancies and births were day and night in comparison.
I remember one friend that told me that she was not scared to have the baby and she was going to refuse the drugs because her doctor told her (because of a miscarriage) that when she does have a baby her body will labor fast... Well needless to say, she had a 20 hour labor and had the drugs. So not even the doctors are 100% right lol!
