i HAD GASTRIC BYPASS A LITTLE OVER 3 MONTHS AGO AND FOUND OUT I AM PREGNANT,...
I am so scared I had my gastric bypass September 20th 2010 and I just found out I am pregnant. Has anyone had this happen to them this soon and if so did the baby turn out ok? My and my husband are excited but we are scared to death that the baby won`t survive. Please if anyone has any advice or experience they could share with me I would appreciate it so much! We took precautions but they didnt work and this was a surprise I tried for 8 years before to get pregnant and the one time I try not to I get pregnant. Not believeing this. My doctors are closed today because of the holiday and I was trying to find out if I needed to take extra vitamins or what.

I got pregnant about 5 months after my RNY, also while on BC. I am now almost 18 weeks and things are going fine. I also tried for many years to get pregnant prior to my RNY. My Dr. did not change anything with my vitamin schedule (except I added folic acid), but does take my labs every 2 months. Labs have been ok so no need to change anything. Had an ultrasound done last week and baby was measuring right where he should be at this point, despite my losing about 10 lbs since I got pregnant.
Try not to worry. You will just have to be monitored closely. Good luck and Happy New Year!

Congrats! Well try not to worry , as surely it's not ideal to get pregnant this early out some of us managed to do it. I was diagnosed with two bad/blocked tubes and still managed to get pregnant 6 months out from RNY surgery and now I'm 31 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby girl so far. You must do the following to ensure the best outcome.
1. Stay out of Ketosis(you do that by introducing more good carbs to your diet) doctors say Ketosis can cause brain damage in the fetus. Ketosis happens in result of a high protein low carb diet.
2. Make sure you are taking a prenatal and multi viatimin. Calcium citrate with D, iron and don't let up on the viatimin taking.
3. Notify both your surgeon and have them work with your OB on ensuring you are tested atleast every 3 months on your vitamin levels
Lastly don't worry and keep yourself healthy as possible because that baby is counting on you![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/smile.gif)

I got pregnant 8 months after surgery. I was worried at first since I was pregnant with twins, but the one wasn't strong enough. The doctor told me there are lots of babies born post wls with no complications and very healthy. Just make sure to keep on your proteins and fibre, and everything healthy. You should be taking your 1 chew multi vitamin, along with 1 prenatal and all your other regular vitamins your surgeon recommended (b12, and calcium citrate with D for me) And get regular labs done. You will be fine :) I am at the always hungry stage. Have lost 20lbs since I have been pregnant, but for the last 1.5 weeks, i have stabilized and gained my 1st pound. As long as you stay healthy, continue to exercise and take your vitamins, you will do great :D
I'm in the same boat - around 8 weeks pregnant and had my RNY on 8/23/10. My doctors are following me closely but have said there is no reason to think I won't be able to have a healthy successful pregnancy.
It is a shock to the system. I know, but there is no reason that everything shouldn't be okay. Feel free to PM me if you need any support.
