OT-Sore throat

Okay...I know this is off topic but since y'all are so great at suggestions of meds and other stuff, HELP

I have a sore throat...it's not preventing me from eating or drinking...but it hurts to swallow without food or drink.
It's mostly the right side and it feels like there is something stuck to it.
My neck is physically tender on both sides. It started on the left.

I've had my tonsils out sometime in the last 5 years (I can't remember when) so it's my understanding it can't be strep.
I don't know whether to spend the money to go to the doc and get checked out or wait it out, or find something over the counter-and if so, what?

Any suggestions would be so very much appreciated!!!

Thanks!!!

I had that issue for almost 2 weeks and it cleared up. I used hot tea with honey and some wamr liquids when it would hurt more. Had halls cough drops all the time to keep it from getting dried out. My dad and son had strep but even the doc told them it would go away on its own after a week or so with or without antibiotics. I chose to not get any cause then I would have to deal with a yeast infection I say try some home stuff and if nothing helps and you need to go in then do it hope you feel better soon~

Shannyn,
Thanks for the info....I opted for the anitbiotics because I didn't want to take the chance of getting anyone else sick in the house. Plus the hubby is sick and he refuses to go to the doc...so I figured it was better to get on them too because he was bound to pass his crud on to me too...at least this way I am safe now either way.

Thank you  :-)

I'm a vocalist, so I hate it when I have a sore throat and I have tried MANY things to make it feel better. This is what I tell my students, hope it helps.

1. Don't talk unless you have to. Whispering will make it worse (it's harder on the voice than softly talking)
2. Gargle with warm sal****er every 2 hours.
3. Cough drops with menthol.
4. Hot tea with honey.
5. Ibuprofin (if it's painful and feels swollen) Don't do this if you're pregnant

Hope it feels better soon.

Thank you Tami.
I'm finally feeling better  :-)

Unfortunately I answer the phones at work so talking was a necessity.
Luckily, the boss let us go by noonish most days last week. LOL

Thanks for the hints!!!
I will keep those on the forefront  :-)

Hugs!
