36 weeks and measuring small

I went to my 36 weeks appointment yesterday and when they measured my uterus I was only measuring 32 weeks.  They tried to do an ultrasound with the dinosaur machine they have but it wouldn't tell her what the baby was measuring.  She almost sent me to l&d because she is worried.  So I have to call and schedule an ultrasound on Tuesday (everything is closed on a military base for a 4 day weekend).  If the results are still showing her to be small, she wants to deliver me early which next week I will be considered full term anyways.

In the last 2 months I have only gained 2 pounds which is also a concern to them, considering that is normally when you gain the most!  So I have gained a total of 25 pounds this pregnancy thus far.

Thx it is greatly appreciated!   I know she is smaller than my other children but I don't think she is that small.  I think it is how she is laying.  I am estimating her to weigh 5.5lbs-6lbs right now. The dr didn't even guess what she weighed.

With her measuring small does that mean everything isnt maturing at the right rate?  So if they deliver early could her lungs not be developed, even if I am considered full term??

I know this is easier said than done, but try not to worry.  My daughter, who is now 27 months old, was also measuring small and they scared the crap out of me for the last month or so of my pregnancy.  They diagnosed me with Interuterine Growth Retardation, or IUGR.  I hated being labeled with that, it sounded so bad!  I gained all of my weight at the beginning of my pregnancy, and stayed the same weight the last 2 months with her.  They ended up inducing me at 39w1d because they were scared since she was so small.  Well, first I ended up with a c-section after 17+ hours of labor because my body was not ready and I was not progressing.  After all was said and done Libby was PERFECT!  She was 5lbs 15oz and 19.25" long, just tiny.  They did notice that her placenta was about half the size that it should have been, but they never really did have an explanation for it.  Now, I have a 2 week old and I thought for sure he would have been a bigger baby since I showed more, gained more, etc but nope.  He was 6lbs 3oz and 19.75" long, so still a tiny peanut at 39w0d.  I went into labor on my own with him and had a successful VBAC.  I would say that I just have small babies, which I am 100% okay with.
So, try not to worry and just make sure you keep eating and drinking your water and your baby will be here soon.

Our doctors here at Hood wont do a tape measure on my belly because of that. My babies lay in my back anyway lol. I would not stress too much. With Hayvann I only gained a total of 12 or 13 pounds the whole time and never had a jump at the end either. I stayed the same the last few months. I would say stay calm and enjoy the last bit of pregnancy. Big hugs!

I don't mind her being small, I really dont have huge babies anyways... my kids weighed 7lbs 15oz at 41 weeks, 6lbs 8 oz at 36 weeks and 7lbs 15 oz at 40 weeks.  So they weren't really big babies...but if she is the size of a 32 week that is like 3lbs!!!  I feel like she is alot bigger than that, so I think they are going to find out she is really good at hiding.  In the ultrasound they did in the office, she actually looks chubby, so I am not going to stress.

I just get aggravated with military drs.  She acts all concerned with the situation but she can't do anything until tuesday after the holidays!!!  I went to make my weekly appointment and I am on a waiting list to get an appointment next week....(there are 30 ppl on the list) So I probably won't be getting another appointment.  This was my first appointment since my 28 week appointment because they have soooo many patients.

When I went in to have my daughter last year the lady thought I was waiting on a friend to come out of the bathroom. She did not know I was even pregnant. I never got big at all. Right now I am bigger than I was at delivery with her. Thats why my doctor does not like taping bellies. He said its not very accurate and as long as he can feel the baby and see that kind of stuff he wont worry. I have not been measured in forever lol. I like it that way myself. When I had a massage 2 weeks before I was due the lady was worried about trigger points cause she thought I was only maybe 4 months along. Had to show her my paperwork to show I was 35 weeks already then. She said after that my baby was in my back. Which I would agree with cause all of my kids gave me back labor and always stayed in my back :)

My baby girl measured right on trac****il 28 weeks. Then, she started to fall behind. They started doing biophysical ultrasounds twice a week to make sure her development was okay. They wanted me to make it to 37 wks. At that point, she was measuring less than the 5th percentile. So, they decided it was neccessary to deliver. She weighed 4 lbs 11 oz & was perfectly healthy. She got to come home with me after the normal 2 days. She did not require any special care. My uterus measured very small the whole pregnancy because she was very low in the birth canal & my uterus is tilted toward my back. At 37 wks, my uterus only measured 27 wks & baby measured 32 wks. Just wanted to share my story. Small doesn't always mean a poor outcome, but sometimes baby does benefit from coming out into the world sooner rather than later. Great things do come in small packages : ) Sending you wishes for the very best !!! Please keep us updated on your progress...
