25 weeks baby survival rate???? Edited.
Has anyone one ever heard of a baby suriving at 25 weeks? My cousins wife is 25 weeks and to save her life, they are taking the baby girl now. They lost Lena last year because of the same thing. Now here we are with Amilia. We are all so upset over this and have been praying all day long. I just wonder if anyone has heard of a baby making it at 25 weeks. Thanks.
We lost her at 2:00 pm. She weighted 3 pounds and 7 ounces.

According to my iphone app:
"The survival rate for babies born at 25 weeks is about 70%. Of surviving infants, the rate of serious medical conditions is about 55%. The baby will weigh about a pound and a half."
I don't personally know anyone who has had a baby that early... the earliest I know of was delivered at 30 weeks. I'll keep your cousin and his wife in my prayers. I hope everyone ends up safe and healthy.

There was a girl, Deb, who used to be on the boards who gave birth to her amazing little girl Maya at 24 weeks (i think... it's either that or 26). She did amazingly well.
My cousin had her little boy at 26 weeks because of hemoraging... He turns one 2/11/11. Right now he's tiny (12 pounds) but doing great.
I believe it's like an 80% survival rate... it all depends on the doctors and of course the baby.
Good luck, We'll be praying. Please keep us updated.

My girls were born at 30 wks and did amazingly well with zero complications or developemntal delays.
While there were in the NICU, their "neighbor" was a little girl born at 24 wks 5 days, she was barely a pound at birth and a real fighter. She did amazingly well but was in the NICU for over 5 months.
Also, a highschool friend of mine is the parent of 2 surviving girls from sextuplets born at 22 weeks. If you want to read his wife's blog: http://stanseljourney.blogspot.com/
I think his girls were in the NICU for 6 months.
Statistically girls do better and have less problems than boys when born at such an extremely early gentational age.
I'll be keeping your family in my thoughts, be sure to keep us updated!

I'm sorry about your cousin's baby's death. It has to be just about the worst thing in the world a parent can go through...and to go through it twice? I'm praying for strength for both parents. Hopefully the doctors can find out why this is happening and do something to prevent it from ever occurring again.
