I hate to state the obvious but the only thing you can do to know for sure is to take a test.....maybe the fast weight loss is messing with your cycle? I dunno..either way good luck and I hope you update!

It doesn't say what type of surgery you had...but definitely TEST ASAP. Some of the meds that you're prescribed post bypass they won't keep you on if you are pregnant. For example my surgeon took me off of my Prilosec and Actigall.

If you are pregnant you will need to be very good at adhering to your supplementing (vitamins, meds,etc.).

I found out I was pregnant just before my 3-month surgiversary. Obviously it's not ideal but if you are careful and work closely with your doc there is no reason you can't have a healthy baby (if that is what you decide, of course).

Good luck and keep us in the loop!

Best thing to do right now - so you know where you stand - is to pee on a stick (POAS)...then take it from there.  It is possible that your surgery has screwed up your cycle a little.  If you are NOT pg right now (and to be honest, this early out, I hope you're not, simply because it's not the ideal situation to be in right now)...then make sure you get on a double type of protection ASAP.   If you had RNY, you can have malabsorption issues which make birth control pills not the ideal method right now.  Use condoms with them.  If you ARE pg right now...don't panic...there are tons of people here who've been there/done that...and we'll all 'hold your hand' while you adjust to that fact...it just won't be as easy getting in your foods/vits for yourself and your little one.

Let us know the results...and good luck.  Oh yeah - no matter what the results - welcome to the board.  Hope to see you around more, whether your pg or not.  A lot of 'future mommies' also hang out here...and everyone's welcome.

I got pregnant 2 weeks after my vertical sleeve!!!  I'm due in 2 weeks and have not had any problems with my pregnancy.   I continued to lose weight except the last few month but I have maintained and not gained.  If you are pregnant remember that your baby will take what he or she needs.  It's just important to take your vitamins and then prenatal vitamins on top of that and make good food choice so you dont feel drained.  I was upset being pregnant IMMEDIATELY after surgery would mess everything up but it hasnt.    You actually only need an extra 300 calories a day when you are pregnant.....which is what a candy bar.   You dont need to eat eat eat bc you are pregnant and you are obese and pregnant its actually healthier for you and your baby if you do lose weight....it cuts down on so many possible complications.  Dont let everybody freak you out.....if you are it will be fine..

OMG, "a candy bar" !  You have some pretty awful advise!!!  It is very bad to be pregnant sotho early out.  If it is truly "an oops", God bless you, I mean God bless you anyway, but do not be an advocate for getting pregnant right out the gate.  So early out, it is almost impossible to keep yourself out of "ketosis" and ketones in our blood can cause our babies fetal brain damage.  Stop it why don't you!  Yeah, the baby will take what it needs from you.  Should our babies end up being our "caretakers" when they are children?  This is sick and I won't have you say it is okay.  The crap about not losing weight after weight loss surgery is okay as long as you get pregnant is a bowl of crap too.  Obesity = illness long term.  Do you have scrambled eggs for brains?

I pray for you and your child especially that you both come out of this strong and healthy.

The candy bar was a reference not saying go eat one. Some women eat like pigs when they are PREGO when they really don't need all the extra calories was the point. And yes I'd be happy not losing another pound considering I've lost almost everything at this point. I wasn't 300 pounds like some when I first got the surgery. I barely qualified. I've been overweight for 5 years my entire life and that was too long. I wasn't going to let myself be 300 or 400 lbs. You should read up on the sleeve a bit more b4 you go running your mouth. This is the healthiest pregnancy I have had regardless of what u think I'm happy and would do it all the same. Sounds like u need some motivation bc your just trying to insult me.....Read more about pregnancy and vertical sleeve b4 u try tossing out medical BS to a Nurse. If you need a partner to go to the gym let me know

I know the vertical sleeve gastrectomy quite thoroughly!  Get a brain.  It is sick to try and get pregnant NOT even early post-op, but straight out the gate - SICK!

Why not suggest some dairy for the extra 300 calories (this is 300 calories on top of eating a healthy diet of at least, at least 1500 calories).  300 calories . . . how about a light yogurt and two glasses of skim milk?

With the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy, are you aware that you can have folate, B12 & iron issues because of the intrinsic factor? SURPRISE, Sleeves do have some malabsorbancy because of the stomach removal itself. Besides, do you know what kind of havoc a pregnancy can bring forth on your body?  Yes a baby will take what it needs like a leech - if that means sucking your bones until they are brittle that is the result!  Then who takes care of the baby?

No, we absolutely do not have to eat like pigs during pregnancy BUT we SHOULD EAT healthy and exercise or at least be active.

Weight loss surgery is very serious no matter the type.  I had the Lap Band and respected the wait period.  I was going to sleeve and had a sneaky idea that because I have the bulk of my weight off, maybe I could try"early post-op" BUT never in my mind did I think IMMEDIATELY.  It is wrong to think that way and actually go out and promote it.  If it happens that way then we need to embrace to the fullest.

Sorry that I am so upset about this.  We just can't be so damned selfish.  This isn't about is - we are carrying a life and we should not be careless about it.

I pray you and your baby are fine and healthy,

Best,
Leila
