Santa brought me a HEAD COLD!!!
The same thing happened to me at 34 weeks. I saw my OB and he put me on Keflex for 10 days. I took Tylenol and did nasal rinses to get rid of the sinus pressure and headaches. It amazed me how much time it took to feel better, but my OB says it's because our bodies have a harder time fighting off this kind of junk while we are pregnant. Our bodies have to work more at fighting off infections. I'm usually over this kind of stuff (and hardly get sick ever) within 2-3 days. It took me almost 8 days or so to start feeling better. Call your OB if it gets any worse and I hope you start feeling better soon!
Everyone I know has gotten something at around 34 weeks. What is it about that magic number?! I'm like you; I'm rarely sick. But unlike you, when I am, it takes me FOREVER to shake what ails me. And it usually settles in my chest/throat along with a cough. This time, I don't have a cough (yet) and I'm praying to God that I don't get one. With my big ol' belly, I can only imagine what THAT would be like, lol!

ME TOO!
You can take regular sudafed and tylenol cold. Honestly, nothing that works really well is safe during pregnancy. I've had probably 10 colds/allergy issues this pregnancy... and for me the sudafed combined with regular tylenol works best. Saline rinses can help for some people. My OB said no mucinex (which is what works the best) because it can "dry out" amniotic fluid too.
Good luck... This stuff sucks and it takes SO much longer to get over this way than normally. Unfortunately antibiotics won't help a cold.

That's good to know about the Mucinex. I was thinking of trying it (I haven't taken it before) and it seems to be the remedy of choice these days. I have some regular benedryl, so I took one of those last night before bed. It actually helped break things up a little so I could blow my nose and get some stuff out.

I was wondering the same thing.... got the 'dry' throat thing & sneezing started today so I know I'm headed for at least a cold. I got an OK to take some Halls for my throat but I was wondering about the other things that will probably come along.
Good thing I'm going for a check up in 3 days...

Well, we just returned last night from our trip home to PA, and what do you know...I woke with horrible head congestion and all the lovely symptoms of a sinus infection/ head cold myself!! UGH! It's just lovely!! Hopefully you're starting to feel better there soon and I'm on that feeling better roller coaster of a ride myself here very soon!
