PLEASE help.  What do you all do for constipation?  I know this can be a common problem after RNY, but I never had issues until I got pregnant.  I have hemroids already and my booty is bleeding when I try to go ... which freaks me out bc I NEVER want to see blood in the undies at this time.

I tried Colace, and it didn't work and MOM makes me vomit.  Someone said prune juice, but that sounds gross (I'll do it if it works, though) ... what can I do?

my doctor let me take miralax but it didn't work till I took it a few days in a row.  I also resorted to eating a food that I knew I was sensitive to in hopes of moving things along.  My least favorite thing to do was an enema but you gotta do what you gotta do.

It was sooo bad in the first 11 weeks for me.

Dr had me take colace 2x a day, miralax 2x a day and an enema every other day. It was horrible.

I finally have been eating one mini almond joy a day and I am better now. Not sure if it is that or not, but I am going to keep eating one to make sure. I know it is so uncomfortable. Good luck!

Mine is horrible as well to the point my dr. said I was severely impacted and scared me to death talking about going in manually to remove it. I literally ripped myself apart making myself go. I about blacked out my blood pressure dropped so low. I've found that Citracal with Magnesium 4-6 times a day helps. Gotta get your calcium in anyway. And fatty foods. Butter, cheeses. A definate make me go is Ocharleys Loaded Potato Soup. Works everytime. I'd hate to know what else its loaded in yikes.
Thanxs, Amy

Fiber one cereal and Special K with fiber all work wonders for me. And they taste good too. I don't have the RNY though So I dunno if you might have a negative reaction.

Ugh, me too...I had VSG, but my dr did tell me that colace 2x a day plus prune juice, which yes, is gross, but worth it.  I ended up with a miscarriage scare the pain got so bad from constipation, so I am willing.  Also, one poster said fiber one cereal, yeppers, that works too.  Also, With RNY you might have some iron issues, but the need for extra iron for pregnancy is really not utilized until the third trimester, so my doctor said we could move down to a low iron prenatal, or a prenatal with no iron and add iron in bit by bit, its the added iron and hormonal slowdown of the intestines that is stopping you up...Also, there are several brands of prenantals that have colace and other stool movers in them already, plus things like acidopholus...those might be an option you should ask about.  Also, there is one last kind of prenatal my frined takes that has the iron in a form that is digested in the intestines rather than your stomach and that makes it MUCH easier on the old pooper...so, there are several VERY good options out there, but it takes a minute to test each one and you have to make sure you drink, drink, drink and add whole fruits and veggies, that is major, try salad more than once a day, if you tolerate it well...Hope you are feeling better soon.  My constipation is touch and go and makes for a very unenjoyable first trimester...blech!!!

RNY on 01/15/08 with
Miralax is your friend. I had to have an enema and then drank Miralax every other day. I stopped doing that cause I was going on my own but I took it as needed then.
