Post Delivery Medication
for all those who have already given birth, what post delivery meds do they ususally give? Is there anything (other than NSAIDS) that are contra-indicated with RNY? My OB isn 't really up on RNY ( although he tries hard) and I just want to be as educated as possible, but I can remember for sure.
TIA!
I had a regular vaginal birth. No cuts or tears. They gave me ibuprofin every 8 hrs. If I needed more, they gave me some Tylenol with codiene. I had a tubal about 6 hrs after I gave birth, so I my worst pain was from that. I know we're not supposed to take ibuprofin, but I figured for a couple days, it wouldn't kill me. Besides, I'm 5 years out from my RNY, my stomach should be fairly strong. (Just my opinion, nobody needs to flame me for that...LOL)

I had a c-section with my baby 10 days ago and I had Percoset. I am a DSer so technically could take some NSAIDs, but I choose not to because I have read a couple horror stories of NSAIDs causing major problems in DSers, and I thought it would be hard to explain to the many OBs and MWs I saw that I could take a little bit of NSAIDs but wasn't comfortable with a prescription strength amount. I had some pain control issues with the Percoset alone so the OBs let me have a dose of oxycodone (Percoset minus acetaminophen) between Percoset doses for a few days. I got a bit loopy but I'm breastfeeding and my baby was fine, still nursed like a champ and wasn't any more sleepy than the average newborn, IMO.
