I'm Scared!

So last week when I had my US, the doctor gave us some good news that Lil Peanut is in my uterus for sure.  But that I was measuring smaller than we thought which explains why my hcg levels were lower than expected a week before that.  So my doctor said we'd continue to monitor with weekly US's until we see the heartbeat.  I'm not yet 6 wks so we don't expect to see it quite this early.

However... today is the 5th day that I've had "light spotting".  I called my dr's office when it first started last Thursday and they said light spotting is normal and nothing to be worried about.  But for me to watch it.  If I start cramping and if it gets heavier then I should call them back.  Well... i just had to call them back.  It's now a little heavier (not like full blown AF, but still heavier than light spotting) and I'm not sure if these are cramps I'm feeling or more like the same bloating I feel during a period.  So I left a vm for my doctor's nurse and I'm waiting to hear back.

I cannot wait to go in for an US tomorrow. I really want to go in today.  Just waiting for the dr's office to call me back....

I hope you get some reassurance soon, I remember how bad it was in the beginning, and I always hated the worries. Good luck with everything!

Try to remain positive even though I know how hard that can be.  I hope everything works out.

Thanks Ladies.  The nurse just called me back. My dr is out today and her partner is in surgery. So the nurse won't be able to talk to a doctor about me until later.  But she did say that it does sound like it could still be normal.  She checked the US schedule for today and unfortunately its all booked up. So I'll probably need to wait until my regularly scheduled US tomorrow at 3:30.  But just hearing the nurse say this could be normal helps.

I'm usually very positive.  The whole time I was preparing for my RNY I never had a doubt in my mind that the surgery will go perfectly and my WLS journey will be quite successful.  Which it absolutely has.  But here's the thing... I've wanted a baby for a very long time and it took a lot to get me to this point.  And I'm 40... and i'm post-op... and i'm lesbian so we really had to jump through more hoops than most to get pg.  blah blah blah.  I'm really trying to remain positive here.  And i'm scared.  This Lil Peanut growing in me is so precious and so very loved by both of us.  Truly a gift for which we are profoundly and eternally grateful.  I also think the hormones are making me a bit more emotional than usual.  I'm an emo-mommy-to-be.

And i'm rambling here.  Thanks for listening/reading.

Keep the faith! I have a couple of friends who did insemination, and they both had light bleeding throughout the entire pregnancy... and their babies were healthy and beautiful.

wow... throughout their entire pg?  OH I pray that doesn't happen!  I just want to see our Lil Peanut growing each week and I really want to see it's little heartbeat.  It's still a bit early for that.  So it's a waiting game...

If it makes you feel any better, I'm barely 8 weeks preggers and I've been experiencing spotting/bleeding for the past week...some of it brown old blood, some red.  At my US last week, they saw a blood sac and said that this is likely where the blood was coming from and I shouldn't worry unless I start passing clots or bleeding a lot with cramping.  I was actively bleeding during my US and the baby's heartbeat was strong and everything else was looking good.  I was really freaked out at first but after meeting with the doc and the US, I feel a lot better even though I'm still spotting.  Try your best not to stress out and I hope and pray all is well for you and your baby!

I had bleeding and cramping for the first 10-11 weeks of my pregnancy. At ten weeks I had a full out hemorhage. It turned out that I had a chorionic hematoma that turned into a bleed. Dr's don't know why this happens except that it has something to do with our antibodies and the attachment of the baby/placenta.

I am now almost 36 weeks and the baby is measuring big and ready to make his entrance!

Bleeding happens quite frequently and most women go on to having happy healthy pregnancies and babies. It's something like 2%.I know that's not a reassuring number but I can attest to the fact that it happened to me and I am still pregnant and he is still thriving. Not all women who bleed will have a hemorrhage either (I need to preface that!). Again- it's just something that happens.

At the time of the bleed I was seeing a fertility specialist/reproductive endocrinologist and an OB. The RE works very hard to get us pregnant and then keep us that way.... his office was not concerned.

The statistics will make you crazy so don't research them- a lot of what you will read is not from professionals..... just know that thousands of women have bleeding and thousands of women go on to having full term babies.

I will be praying for you guys! Keep us posted!

Thanks, Tracey.  Ugh... bleeding and cramping for 10-11 wks?  Oh my!  The more I talk to people about this, the more I hear how common this is.  And my OB nurse said it's probably normal too.  US is tomorrow.

Im sorry you are going to have alot of "stories" from me. Have had 7pregnancies, 3m/c....

WIth this pregnancy I had started to bleed in my 2nd month almost 3rd. I was on the phone with my friend and I felt this "poke"and wetness...i looked down and my crotch and inner thighs were covered in blood. I got quiet and my friend is like WHAT is wrong? I told her she was like OH **** call the dr and get going!! im like duh i am....

So i called the ask a nurse told her what was going on etc and to see if she could call the ob on call for me. I even told her i wasnt sure if it was m/c because i had NO cramping, twinges or anything. NOTHING like my previous ones, although I did have bleeding with all my live births. SO I wasnt really freaking out, just concerned. She did call the oB and the ob basically said that you could come in but it would be a waste of time if I was m/c because they couldnt do anything anyway. The nurse called me back and she was pissed!

SO she talked to me somemore and found out she had RNY too, and she thought that it was cool that her and I had "met", not good under the cir****tances...ok anyways...

Called the ob the next day, his nurse was like well i dont know what to tell you, im like well can i at LEAST get a HCG? or maybe a US to see if the sac was still there or what? oh yeah i guess...so she calls me back day later i had ultrasound and there he was, bouncing baby bean. hb strong and attached. i kept bleeding off and on through the next couple of weeks, RED blood CLOTS the size of my palms etc...I dreaded to go pee because I thought I would find something I didnt want to see...
Finally got into to see a dr at my nurse appt...dr came in as a "humor me" visit did a vag scan and seen the hb and i noticed the blood between the uterus and placenta and i asked him what it was..he told me "nothing to be concerned about" pulled the wand out and said he didnt know why i was so worried about it...(this is the start of my issues with this practice for those of you following)

i kept bleeding more and more and more...bedrest more bedrest and MORE bedrest...i put myself on it because that was the only way i could keep the bleeding to a min...FINALY appt with MY ob...
14wks
He actually listened to me as to what was going on...he did a vag ultrasound to find out he didnt need to do it but he did it anyway just to make sure....there was that "glob" i noticed before THEN he got concerned...HE tells me "HA! there is why you are bleeding like you are!" im like ok explain..."you have a blood clot between your uterus and placenta. DONT WORRY its not deattaching just something that happens to ALOT of women. SOME bleed like you have for the WHOLE time because the clot wont disappear. SOME pass a BIG huge glob of blood and its the last of the bleed" im like OK thats ALL i wanted to know... HB was awesome confirmed it was a boy out the door i went...FINALLY had answer...PISSED because the prior dr i pointed it out too blew me off...

I kept bleeding off and on up until my 5th month...i passed a big huge clot the size of my hand...i freaked out, yes i looked through it. NO FETAL TISSUE!!! i didnt freak cuz i had us the next day...dr called me and says..GUESS WHAT NO MORE CLOT!! i then told him what happend the day before...i stopped bleeding after that...(then other issue ensued)

SO have faith mama! really!
