My visit to L&D at 2am Sunday morning...ugh

Still not sure what caused it...but around 2am Sunday morning I had this tearing horrible pain across my stomach.
The first time it happened, the baby kicked super hard.
Then it happened again and I didn't feel the baby...

The pain was so intense I actually cried out and swung my arm out-thank goodness hubby hadn't gotten home yet or he could have been hit  :-(

Dr. said to go and get monitored...so 20 minutes and $10 worth of tollbooths later, I visited L&D.
A few hours later, they sent me home, told me I was fine, etc etc blah blah blah.

So...the only conclusion we could come up with is that the baby did a major shift in position and came across the scar tissue from my open RNY. Other than that, I have no idea....

Has anyone else experienced anything like this?
I'm only 25 weeks...

Thanks,
Jessica

Tracey,
Thanks for the reply. So far those were the only pains I have had like that. So hopefully it is an isolated incident...
I do have regular bowel movements and such, so I'm going to hope it has nothing to do with that.

Thanks again!!!
BTW, how's your baby coming along?

Hugs,
Jessica

Hey Jess!

Around 20 weeks or so my dr thought I had adhesions from previous surgeries that were being tugged at from the baby and his weight. The pain kept getting worse so I was sent for a CT and they think that I have a kink, twist, minor bowel obstruction etc....  at times it hurts like nothing I've ever felt before. Only a CT can tell the difference and since we are pregnant they don't prefer to do them and when they do, they do it with one view which limits the study. It sounds very similar to what I experienced which can be either/or.

Make sure you are going to the bathroom like normal. If its an adhesion then they are going to probably let you deal with it. If it turns out to be something more serious they will want to take care of it before your third trimester. After your third any surgery carries a huge risk of putting you in premature labor.

I haven't found anything that relieves the pain. It just stinks all the way around.

I hope that you don't have any more issues and it was just an event that happened only twice for you.

Hey Jes! Sorry to hear you had to go through this :( I don't know if it's the same, but I seem to have a tearing/pulling sensation that occurs on my right side- and of course it has to be right where the little guy prefers to kick me. If I'm moving around or doing a lot, the feeling gets a lot worse. I asked the OB about it at my last 2 appointments (2 diff drs) and both told me that it's more and likely from scar tissue from one of my many abdominal surgeries- I have no gallbladder, appendix and had the RNY. It can be quite painful at times and at one point (around 25-26 weeks) it seemed to be excruciating. I had thought that maybe he was shifting positions, but he's still head down, butt up. It's definitely not fun!! Hang in there girl! :) Hope you're feeling better soon!!

Thanks Kerri.
Yeah, I had issues with scar tissue for the majority of my first trimester because I had ovarian cysts removed, endometriosis, and adhesions. So I've experienced that scar tissue issue...but dang, this one was just so much more intense it scared the heck out of me  :-( But then again, it's a much larger area and a longer patch of scar tissue.

Sorry you had to go through all that too...The fun things we go through to make our lives so much more blessed.

Hugs!!
