low lying placenta

I went for my normal check up on Wed. I had not gained any weight this month, blood pressure good.  Ultrasound showed that I have a low lying placenta.  My MD said not to worry about this at this point, but to be careful not to do any heavy lifting (I'm a physical therapist) and no intercourse.  He said bleeding is sometimes an issue with low lying placenta but not always, since mine isn't placenta previa covering my cervix.  He did say that at the first episode of bleeding , I would go on immediate bed rest.  Did any of you have low lying placenta?  Did you have trouble with bleeding?

First off, breathe and relax! =)
i dont know how far along you are, but if you are "early" still your placenta can move up and away from the danger zone. NOW, as for the bleeding, yes it happens. I have had to deal with low laying, partial covered cervix...luckily mine moved. REALLY good news is that you will be able to have a vaginal birth!! WOOHOO!! if the placenta decides to keep going north and not south...THey will keep a better watch on oyou with US etc and probably have some NST later on...My placenta moved up through the months. This time around mine is right smack dab in the middle front PROTECTING me from all his little jabs and pokes and kicks....(thank goodness cuz he is a mover!)

Dont fret! dont worry unless your dr is worried!! Even then they have had many experiences with this!! just listen to what they say, dont fight it!! They say bedrest, go bedrest...

IF you begin to bleed more than a pinkish discharge or "when you wipe", then get your butt into the ER right now...dont hesitate and do the "well I dont want to bother them, so i called them and they said not to worry" well, if you werent worried then why would you call them? Ok sorry tangent...baby brain got me going "all over" right now...

pay attention to baby movement too, if you think he/she has become a little less active go in and just do a quick check...

I had marginal placenta previa at my 20 week ultrasound.  I was worried but went for another ultrasound at 28 weeks and it had moved up just like 90% do.  I never had any bleeding or anything.  I was also on pelvic rest but I didn't care since I wasn't feeling very sexy anyway!

Try not to worry...the odds are VERY good that it's going to move out of the way as you grow!

I have complete placenta previa.  I can't do any lifting over 25lbs, no exercise, and complete pelvic rest!  Yup you guessed it...no boom boom for me:(  I have had bleeding everyday up till the last 4 days now.  What that means is C-section but my first 2 were sections too.  No biggie there.  They may have to take him early like 2 weeks.  Dr told me yesterday that the baby is measuring bigger than what there were expecting.  We'll see him on US in 2 weeks and see what's going on...listen to your doc.  My restictions REALLY suck!  I have gained 9 lbs this month alone!  No exercise= depression!  Couple months left...

I delivered 6 weeks early a 5lb 15oz lil boy:)  After spending 2 months on bed rest in the hospital and Mason spending 11 days in the NICU, we're both home and doing great!  Mason is getting bigger and gaining weight like he should.  Now it's my turn to lose this weight!  It's tough to get back on the band wagon...I CAN do this!
