weight loss after baby
So Mischa will be 6 months in 2 weeks and i still weigh 220 lbs!!!!! OMG! i see my before pictures and its very depressing. I'm having a hard time with weight loss. i started walking every morning with and my weight just fluctuated between 220 and 225 going up and down. I don't know what to do. I know my pouch is much bigger than before. I don't know if to see my surgeon but i dont have the same insurance and i don't know what's out there really.. Anyone have any advice or gone through the same thing? dont know how to go about doing this..
I suggest googling the 5-day pouch test. That's a great test to check how "good" your pouch still is. I'm sure your pouch is still in good working order... just need to kinda re-learn how to use it well. Once you find out the pouch is still "good" after that 5-day test, then go back to your early WLS stage diet with increased exercise and water. I know it's not easy, but you do have your tool there and it will take a good jump start to get it going again. Are you active in a WLS support group near you? Maybe a workout buddy can help. You dont have to do this alone.
Girl, I was in your same boat six weeks ago. I weighted 217 the day I deleivered and lost ten pounds right away; probably because it was the ten pounds of fluid I gained in about 7 days...so I didn't really count. Well six weeks ago I decided I had to do something, I refused to allow myself to go back in to my old habits as well as I visited my annual appt with my surg. My thyroid is slowly dying, so I knew that was one more fight against me. My surg basically said, get it off, or it won't come off.
So I took some drastic measures and went to the Center for Medical weight loss. Now, what I will warn you is it is very pricy. But the program that I choose provided me with all my meals for six weeks. I drank four portein shakes a day and one protein bar. A total of 800 calories-only the carbs were in the shakes/bar, which were less than like 40 a day. This worked wonderful for me and got me back to where I needed to to begin slowly getting back to life and weight I wanted to be at. I lost 21 pounds of fat and gained a 1.5 in muscle, so to me it was great results.
My next phase is a little easier and a little more affordable. I still have about 20 more pounds to go and be where I want to stay, but there is a book called the 17 Day Diet. It's about $29 and can only be order through their website (unless someone is selling it second hand). This again is a protein based mainly diet. It however includes food. I am still going to strive for 800-1000 calories per day until these last 20 are off; and then I can maintain about 1400-1600 pounds per day
I know this was a longer post than expected, but some ideas to maybe help you along. I promise once you see the scale move past those first ten pounds you will get your groove back.
Good Luck! Stacey

thank you for posting your question. I am in the same boat with you. And thank you to the ladies who posted a reply, you have been a big help. I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy in September. I weighed 217 the day I gave birth. my pre-preg weight was 165. I am now 190!! it has been mentally hard for me to have gained this weight....yes I know it was for a good reason. it's just hard. i lost 125 lbs. but like a good friend told me.."girl, it's better to have just 25 to lose instead of 125 to lose right?"..."at least your not staring at a mountain anymore...just a small hill"! how i love her :). I will be going back to basics, thanks to your suggestions. don't know why I didn't think of that myself! duh! thanks again!!
