12 day long AF! WTF?!?!?!

My period FINALLY ended on 12/10...it started on 11/29! Yes, ladies, that is a whopping TWELVE days! I went to my OB/GYN on CD10 to figure out what the heck was going on... they did a regular u/s, a transvaginal u/s and an internal. They said everything looked normal. I am going to get blood draws during my next cycle for FSH levels (on day 3), progesterone levels (on day 21), thyroid,  and estrogen levels to figure out if my long, irregular AFs are caused by a hormone imbalance.
I'm wondering if all the weight I lost threw my hormones out of whack??? I don't remember having super-long AFs back when I was heavy (when I had my 2 kids)... I'm also wondering if the super-long period means I'm not ovulating, or am I ovulating late or what?? Thoughts?? Anyone have similar issues??
TIA,
V

I have bled anywhere from 5 days to 6 weeks...yes 6 weeks, mine is hormones I have PCOS, you still should be ovulating but having long periods like that is not good for you. Thats what started my anemia. Have you ever been Diagnosed with PCOS? Are you try to get pregnant? Push your doctors to get some answers....My u/s always come back normal and he just said losing weight or gaining weight can cause your body to say WTH? And kinda have a "freak out" moment....Good luck hope you get some answers!

Wow, don't know what it could be...just want to add to take extra iron and fluids so you don't become anemic. Good luck!

 Thanks girls!
No PCOS here... and yes, I'm TTC my third child... I am going to keep pressing my OBGYN for answers, but I guess I'll wait and see what these upcoming blood tests show.
Thankfully, I've had several iron infusions after my WLS (I can't tolerate oral iron) so my iron should be fine.
Yes, having super long periods is annoying...but I'm mostly bothered by the thought that whatever is causing them could be affecting my chances of conceiving (we've just started our 3rd month TTC so it's still way too early to declare 'fertility issues', but time will tell)
Thanks for responding!
