Add me to the measuring "big" group

Well, my 28 week appointment went pretty well- other than the Dr indicating to me that I am measuring "BIG"! Imagine that! She didn't even give me a numbers figure, but since we are traveling out of state next week they urged me to carry a copy of my medical records with me.

So, apparently according to my papers at my last appointment  I was measuring at 30 weeks (for my 24 week appointment) and today I'm measuring at 32 weeks at my 28 week appointment. They have my starting weight listed as 188 when I was 10 weeks and today's weight was 202, so that puts me at 14lb weight gain.

I am now scheduled for a growth ultrasound on January 3rd. My last ultrasound was on 10/25 and I was only measuring 4 days ahead of my previous ultrasound at 10 weeks. I'm looking at it as a chance to see my little boy in there once again :)

Aside from the measurements, BP was nice and steady at 120/68, I lost a pound from my previous appointment, no protein in urine, and had my a1c blood draw done. I also signed my paperwork to have my tube reversal done at the time of delivery.

So I'm now off to do some researching about the measurement stuff, but from previous posters I think it seems about pretty normal for us post bypass patients to be measuring ahead. All I know and care about at this pont is baby's heart sounds great, I'm doing and feeling great, and Christmas is right around the corner!! Yippee!!

Fundal height measurements are regularily off.  My doctor never went by how many weeks I was measuring but how much I was growing from one appt to the next.

That's kind of what I'm gathering, but according to my doctor's paperwork my growth went like this..

At my early ultrasound- 8/10 I weighed in at 188 and FH was 10
10/18 20 weeks- FH 20 weight gain of 6lbs from 8/10
11/16 24 weeks- FH 30 weight gain of 8lbs from 10/18
12/13 28 weeks- FH 32 weight loss of 1lb from 11/16

So it looks like my big jump was from 20 to 24 weeks and that was my bigggest monthly weight gain of 8lbs in one month. Other than that my weight gain has been like 1lb or this time was a loss of 1lb. From my last appointment I seemed to have only increased in FH of 2 and not a weight a gain.

I think these measurements have to be no major indication of the babys gestational age because of the extra "fatty" skin I have. That's what I'm chalking it up to and not going to worry. I'm looking forward to my 3D/4D scan on Thursday and the tech has indicated that she can give me som growth and weight numbers for the baby as well. My last ultrasound I only measured a difference of 4 days and my FH was right on.

Drs really can make it difficult to not worry, but I'm going to relax about it until we get some conformation from the ultrasound on Jan 3rd.

Thanks for the input! :)

OMG!!! Kerri, I too measured 32 weeks at my 28 week appointment!! What's going on with the universe...LOL... I mean my last pregnancy I had a "big baby" due to GD, as he was 9lbs 6oz, but I was extremely obese then. I started off at a healthy weight and thought I was going to have a somewhat smaller baby, but Noooooooooo...I'm measuring 4 weeks ahead of my date. They did an ultrasound at 27 weeks and baby was estimated at 2lbs 8oz, which they thought was big for that gestation. It's weird necause up until 28 weeks each time she would measure my fundal height I was always on target...I guess baby went through a growth spurt in the womb..Well she is kicking like a linebacker in there..

Girl this is cracking my up because my husband keeps on teasing me that this baby is going to be a 9lber!!! :O However, he also has a history of having longer babies...he's 6'3" to begin with. His oldest daughter was born at 40 weeks and was 22 inches long, his second daughter was a month premature and was stil 19 inches long. I'm hoping maybe it's just because baby is LONG and not necessarily FAT LOL!!!  My next ultrasound will be at 31 weeks for me, so hopefully that will provide some more answers as well. And this "little" guy in there is an ANIMAL!!! He is constantly in motion and is kicking the heck out of me almost day and night.

The dr did tell me that he's butt up like he has been since the last ultrasound at 21 weeks. I was curious why my belly...right above my belly button...was EXTREMELY hard...especially at night. She said it's baby's little butt pushing up against the utereus. :) So from now on at least when I tap on my tummy I now know I'm tapping him on his "little" butt LOL It's kind of comical considering that's the only way I can get him to ease up is to massage and tap the area and he slowly moves away from the surface and isn't pushing as hard.
