Which vitamins to take during pregnacy
Thank you so much for your responses. I'm taking two multi-vitamins a day, iron plus c, b12 shot weekly and calcium. I'll just add a prenatal and multivitamin. I will have my labs drawn soon (waiting for my husbands insurance to start January 1st) I know I'll need to see a nutritionist as well. Someon mentioned that because of bypass that we are considered high risk. Is that true?
In most cases no, you wouldn't be considered high risk.. at my dr's office the only difference is hat at 26 weeks they do ultrasounds every 4 weeks to check growth. And today I did my glucose test, and rather than drink the glucola stuff, I drank apple juice- but there is also a "post prandial" way of doing that test- they didn't give me that option and i did live through it, even tho felt sick the rest of the night...
i currently take
2 bariatric advanage multi vitamins
6 calcium
1 vitamin d (5000iu) - 1 one day and 2 the next
1 b12 every other day
1 DHA (i forget the brand but it's the non-fish kind, so no mercury)
1 folic acid
1 b6
1 iron
Hope this helps!

Hi again.
It sounds like you are on enough now. I would not take more than 2 prenatals/multis per day. Some of those vitamins are fat soluble and can cause toxicity. But it is very important to have your labs draw soon to be sure you are not deficient in anything important. From everything I've read on here.....a lot of NUT's Obgyns and WL surgeons are barely ever on the same page when it comes to pregnancy. You can do research online about vitamins, RNY, & pregnancy to give you a little background
