Hi everyone!

I was directed to this site from a previous post. I am a few weeks away from my 1yr surgiversary and we found out I'm about 4wks pregnant. I am looking for an OB now and I was hoping to receive some helpful insight as to what vitamins you can or can't take during pregnancy. I'm so nervous this is our first baby and I'm nervous because of the gastric bypass. Any suggestions would be so appreciated.

you can take whateve vitamin you want. Keep taking what your suppose to be taking like after surgery and make sure it has folic acid in it. Dont be nervous because of the gastric. everything will be fine.
Call and ask your surgeon and see if they have any recommendations for an ob.
congratulations on the baby!

I am in pretty much the same situation as you are.  Congratulations!  My NUT said to just continue taking the vitamins I had been taking pre-pregnancy and to add DHA.  I was already taking multi's, iron, calcium, b12, and b1 --they had enough folate ...so I just need to add in DHA

Congrats to you as well! How far along are you? I'm not sure what DHA is. I'll google that. Thank you again!

You should be taking 2 multivites a day, daily B-12 sublinguals (or monthly shots) and at least 1500mg of calium citrate a day. I would also add at least 1000mg extra of D3 daily and an extra 400mg of folic acid, but that is me. Be sure to have your labs drawn soon and a few times throughout your pregnancy, to keep aware of your levels and avoid deficiencies.
