Pouch ulcers and vitamins
Hello everyone. I am 13 months out from laproscopic RNY, which involved 3 actual laproscopic surgeries (I had every complication possible, I think, lol!). Down to my goal weight of 145 @ 5'8" tall.
Anyway, I have had problems with large ulcers for which I have taken prilosec/previcid/carafate, etc., for the last 8 months. The ulcers finally seem to be improving, but I am still on the meds. Now, I am looking at the possibility of becoming pregnant within the next year and am concerned that I won't be able to take the necessary vitamins during preganancy (because they will sit in my pouch and cause ulcers again). Does anyone know if there are liquid prenatal vitamins out there?? Or could I continue to open my Soloray High Energy Once A Day vitamins and take them in my protein shakes like I do now and just add some folic acid and whatever other vitamins are needed for prenatal care?? Any input would be greatly appreciated. I never though this would be possible for me, but life may work out differently than I expected. :)
Thank you!!

Can't you just take a chewable with some water? Bariatric Advantage has a multi-chewable that has all the ingredients of a prenatal, plus more. And it is tailored to WLS patients. I have the grape flavor and it is pretty good as far as chewables. They also make chewable iron and calcium citrate. You maybe should add an extra folic acid but they are small. I take an 800mg tab every day and it is tiny.
The only thing it doesn;t have is a DHA in it. They do make a liquid orange gel for that called Coromega. You an email Bariatric Advantage and ask for a sample packet for RNY....they will send you one with a flavor of everything they have. Good luck.
