Vaginal PAIN!
So I have been having vaginal pain since Saturday, and every day the pain has been getting more intense. It's a steady throbbing feeling with an occasional sharp cramping sensation and I feel swollen down there. I called my OB yesterday and the nurse told me to place an ice pack to the area for 10 minutes at a time every 2-3 hours or so, to drink lots of water, to not sit or stand for too long, and to lay on my left side. It's been helping some, and I don't feel so bad today now, but I am dreading later tonight again as it seems to be way worse in the evenings. She also asked me if I was having troubles with urinating or if my hands and ankles looked or felt swollen. I told her, no.? I have my 34 week OB appointment on Thursday and I will actually be about 35 weeks. She told me that he may want to check me and also do a strep B culture on me. Should I be worried? How was your experience with this test and what was the outcome? I know everyone says this but now it's my turn..."I DON"T THINK I AM GOING TO MAKE IT TILL MY DUE DATE!" I don't see how?! Okay, I needed get that out. Thanks!
The strep B culture is just a swab of your vagina and rectum. Nothing to worry about. Something like 30% of all women are postive for Group B Strep. If you are, they just give you some antibiotics during delivery to prevent the baby from getting it.
As far as the pain in your vagina, sounds like it could be the baby's head pushing on your cervix. Resting and putting your feet up are just about the only things that will help that.
((hugs))
I hope you get some relief!

Okay here is the TMI- So I felt swollen and painful in my whole girlie parts area...went on for weeks & weeks....assumed it was the extra weight, baby, stretching, expanding. So finally- I got a mirror (I couldnt bend to see) and just took a look because the only way I felt relief was when I first woke up. SO- it turns out I had horrible varicose veins
I of course talked to my dr because I freaked out, never knew that was possible. They told me wear really supportive undies and try to keep alternating positions (mostly with feet up or sitting). I hope this isnt the case for you- but it was resolved within a week of having baby. I felt like the babys head was there..but it was the veins. I nicked named her vari during my pregnancy. LOL Good luck- hope u ge relief soon.

I just had my Strep B come back positive and the doc said no worries as I would just get antibiotics upon labor. I have a lot of pressure and soreness in the same areas and was told the baby is in a good delivery position and pushing against my cervix. Yup, laying and switching sides is about the only thing! Good luck!

I had it with both of my first two sons, especially the first since he was my first and I carried him longer. It is also known as "ECP" or EVIL CROTCH PAIN! To me, it felt like someone had a knife inside me and was twisting it around. Yup. It sucked and it was rather painful. It was my body ripening for delivery. I ended up going into labor at 37 weeks. As far as Strep B, it is just an infection , similar to getting strep throat, but you always have the germ in your body. It can be harmful to the baby so you get antiobiotics in your IV during/before delivery. No biggie. You will always test positive if you test positive once, and therefore, need antibiotics every delivery.
